Sang Xia seemed to have a very, very long dream.
The dream had no end.
It was evening. After a heavy rain, the little town had fallen silent. Everything around her was hazy, the light dim and unclear.
The convenience store door suddenly swung open, and Sang Xia jolted awake from her doze.
The old fan overhead creaked, the wind chime by the door rang, and a man dressed all in black walked up to the counter, staring down at his phone. He looked listless.
Sang Xia froze, not daring to move.
Until...
The man lazily raised his eyes and noticed the cigarette display directly across from him. He pointed at it casually and said absentmindedly, "A pack of Yellow Crane Tower."
Back then, Sang Xia couldn't recognize all the cigarette brands and had no idea which pack he meant. She asked softly, "The third row?"
Only then did the man's attention shift from his phone to the young salesgirl. His eyes drooped at the corners, and his lips curved into a smile. "You don't know the brands, so why are you working in a store?"
That was Zhou Ciye and Sang Xia's first meeting.
Later, the gentle, unhurried girl would stand in front of Zhou Ciye without hesitation, clasp his hand tightly, and say in a soft yet resolute voice, "Don't be afraid. I'll get you out of here."
Escape from this chaotic, wretched world.
But she was wrong.
How could a dream have no end?
When a dream reaches its ending, of course it stops.
Just as Zhou Ciye once said, "After hardship comes sweetness. But, Xia Xia, hardship has no end."
A cold, jaded delinquent x a quiet, peculiar girl
"I'm a migratory bird with nowhere to settle. He's an island fit to live on."
"I like the torrential rain outside the window, the downpour drowning out the cicadas. I like the overcast sky with no end in sight, the road ahead shrouded in fog, as if I can't see the hardships waiting for me."
"I like that one second before the world falls apart and all things return to a single speck of dust, when you tell me you'll love me forever, and that even death won't make your love fade."
