From the female lead's perspective as she secretly loves someone.
Xu Qingzhi left the embrace of her adoptive parents and followed her biological parents to an unfamiliar city, where she began her senior year of high school. There, she ran into the boy who had once offered her an umbrella again. His name was Chen Jin.
One Friday after school, Chen Jin and Fu Mingyu walked out of the school gates with a few others. Wen Yanbai was holding a basketball. As if remembering something, he scratched his head, grinned, and turned to Chen Jin. "Brother Jin, can I borrow your chemistry book? I didn't take many notes today."
Chen Jin shrugged off the backpack on his back and tossed it to him, his expression unchanged. "Find it yourself."
Wen Yanbai opened the backpack and pulled out the chemistry book. As he lifted it, a dark green envelope slipped out and fluttered to the ground. The moment Wen Yanbai saw it, he handed the basketball to Fu Mingde. Crouching to pick up the envelope, he glanced at it and teased, "Oh, a love letter! Let's see who it's from."
Chen Jin was used to things like this. He had received far too many love letters, but this was the first time one had been tucked into his book. His brows knitted slightly, but he kept walking, his dark eyes turning colder. He didn't even look at the letter as he said, word by word, "Throw it away."
Xu Nuo turned sideways and caught sight of the name on the envelope. The corners of his mouth lifted as he deliberately remarked, "This handwriting is so ugly."
Of them all, only Fu Mingde stared at the name on the outside of the letter, lost in thought. Wen Yanbai tossed it into the trash, then turned back to Xu Nuo with a snort. Taking back the basketball, he said, "It really is ugly."
Xu Qingzhi came out holding her books and happened to witness the scene. She stopped in her tracks. The love letter looked terribly familiar. She had even decorated it with stickers. Her heart twisted in pain, as if someone had poured a basin of water over her.
The clear sound of conversation from not far away reached her ears. She stood frozen, her face ashen. Tears slid down and fell onto the books in her arms. She watched silently as the group walked out of sight, then went to rummage through the trash. She retrieved the letter, coldness sweeping over her whole body. Crouching on the ground, she tore the letter to shreds, then stood and tossed the scraps into the bin. Tears blurred her vision. She wiped them away and ran back.
Hidden around the corner, Fu Mingyu had taken in everything that had just happened. Seeing her run with tears on her face, trying her hardest to keep going, he quietly turned his gaze away.
