She is Tao Zhan, director of the Central Tower's Special Operations Division, senior instructor at the Sanctuary, and an S-rank top Sentinel, the strongest of her generation.
Tao Zhan began working diligently for the Federation when she was nineteen. The next generation always surpasses the last, each one stronger than the one before. To avoid being left behind, Tao Zhan pushed herself until she was like a washing machine on spin cycle, becoming a master of time management and the ultimate workaholic.
Under such a high-pressure lifestyle, even after becoming the top Sentinel, Tao Zhan remained deeply miserable. The final straw was the death of her Guide partner.
Tao Zhan: Even the strongest can't protect their most important comrades?
Tao Zhan suffered a mental breakdown at her partner's funeral and nearly got eliminated by the Tower. After burning through a vast amount of medical resources, the Central Tower told her:
If it doesn't kill you, work yourself to death! After retiring, have three more kids to serve the Federation!
Tao Zhan: Wow. Tao Zi puts on a show for you, and you treat her like a donkey. Tao Zi is willing to give the Federation every last drop of her blood, but you can't wring every last egg out of her, can you?
Facing the General Tower's exploitation, Tao Zhan flew into a rage. In a poor mental state, she gave up being a workaholic and chose to lie flat, go berserk, and let everything fall apart.
Tao Zhan: (screaming) (twisting) (crawling in the dark) (going mad) (biting wildly)
Her colleagues and subordinates: What's wrong with Director Tao?
Reading Guide:
1. The Sentinel-Guide setting includes some original elements, so don't overthink it.
2. Eighty percent of the story is everyday life.
3. Director Tao is a villainess when she goes berserk: no love, no conscience, no morals. Don't take her too seriously. Why argue with a madwoman? jpg
