After Being Reborn, I Turned Out to Be My Nemesis's White Moonlight

Xie Lingyu, Prince of Yongning, was the first and only woman ever to hold the title of prince in the Great Zhou Dynasty. She lived cautiously and never took part in court politics or factional struggles. Yet after the new emperor ascended the throne, she was sentenced to lifelong house arrest. Looking at her former lover, now the prospective husband of Princess Zhaoyang, the new emperor's younger sister, she asked, "Why?" Pei Jing'an, the refined gentleman admired by all for his grace and talent, looked down at her and said, "Your Highness, I never wanted to drift across a lake with you. With a position like yours, not fighting for power is a mistake." Xie Lingyu looked at him and suddenly laughed. So they had never been right for each other from the start. She only wanted a peaceful life, while he had his heart set on power. And so, on the day Pei Jing'an married Princess Zhaoyang, Xie Lingyu received a cup of poisoned wine. When she opened her eyes again, Xie Lingyu realized she had returned to the past. She was once more the exalted Prince of Yongning. Fine. If not fighting for power was a mistake in her previous life, then this time, she would fight for it to the very end, and live without regrets! The first thing Xie Lingyu did was send someone to find Xiao Yanxing, the greatest contributor to the new emperor's rise to the throne in her previous life. But when Xie Lingyu saw Xiao Yanxing in plain clothes beneath the rain, he was nothing like the powerful minister who had once held the court in his grasp. Blood mixed with rainwater and streamed across the ground around him, while a dead emptiness filled his eyes. The young woman in fine clothes held an oil-paper umbrella and slowly crouched before him. With a smile, she said, "If you serve me loyally, I'll give you a chance." Xie Lingyu thought her relationship with Xiao Yanxing would be like the new emperor's relationship with him in her previous life. It wasn't until the palace tried to arrange a marriage for Xie Lingyu that Xiao Yanxing pinned her beneath the bed curtains and said, almost frantically, "Your Highness said you'd give me a chance." Xie Lingyu: "..." But that wasn't the kind of chance she meant. * The moment Xiao Yanxing could never forget was that year's Lantern Festival, when he saw a figure more radiant than the moon. He thought that figure was like the bright moon itself, untouchable and impossible to approach. And just as he had expected, she had never once looked his way. With the princess's help, the newly appointed Prince Consort Pei Jing'an thought he was on his way to a glorious future. But then someone framed him, and he was thrown into the imperial prison. When he saw a figure slowly emerge from the darkness, he asked in terror, "Why?" The newcomer was Xiao Yanxing, and Pei Jing'an could not think of anything he had done to offend him. Xiao Yanxing lowered his eyes to his wrist, where the edge of an old but exquisite ribbon peeked out. In a low voice, he said, "Anyone who betrays her deserves to die." Pei Jing'an's eyes nearly popped out of his head. Then Xiao Yanxing whispered again, his voice tinged with madness: "You do. And so do I." Theme: Then fight for it to the very end.
