Chi Chao was a celebrated prodigy in the cultivation world, carefree, bold, and debonair. Yet when he underwent his love tribulation, he fell for a mortal.
He and that mortal set river lanterns afloat, played the Snow-Singing Zither, danced with swords, admired the world's most beautiful sights, and drank wedding wine together.
He willingly let his cultivation fade, thinking, If I've fallen for him, then so be it. He was ready to spend a mortal lifetime by his side, then leave this world together with him.
But before a century had passed, the beloved he thought of day and night stabbed him.
The once tender and considerate lover now had only coldness and arrogance in his eyes. He said quietly, "I'm sorry. You were my love tribulation."
Later, two major rumors spread through the cultivation world.
First, Chi Chao, the prodigy of the Cangyue Sect, had overcome his love tribulation and advanced smoothly to the Nascent Soul stage. He was as peerlessly charismatic as ever, only now with a touch more romantic charm.
Second, Xihua, the revered lord of the Yuanxi Sect, the Cangyue Sect's sworn enemy and a tribulation-transcending immortal revered by the entire cultivation world, had failed to overcome his love tribulation and was nearly driven mad.
Chi Chao (gong) x Yun Jin (shou)
A groveling-after-the-breakup trope. Happy ending! But the kind where they get back together after a breakup, and the cracks remain forever.
[I'm not very good at writing angst. This is one of those cases where I love writing it even though I'm bad at it. There might not be much angst, but there may be a lot of sweetness. It should be sweet with a touch of sourness, leaning sweet.]
The cover is from my lovely friend @Jun Shou, who also designed my pen-name seal. It's gorgeous!!!
