A Heart Full of Tenderness

(1) [I fell in love at first sight, and before you even knew it, I accidentally collided with you, heart to heart.]

Yu Wanxiang had set her goal from childhood: "Make lots of money and live a freer life." She spoke frankly and had always understood things clearly. Her greatest strength was enduring hardship, all for her mother and younger sister.

But after moving to a new campus in her second year of high school, she met Gu Zhiyan, the boy who would make a lasting impression on the youth of so many girls.

Little by little, he became the protagonist of her diary. The notes she kept were about him, and she pressed every candy wrapper she'd eaten into its pages...

Her brief encounters with him in their second year of high school became a dream she would often revisit in the years to come.

In the winter of her final year of high school, Yu Wanxiang decided she couldn't keep holding back. She wanted to do something impulsive for herself, so she prepared a birthday present for Gu Zhiyan and decided to confess her feelings. But on his birthday, a rumor that "Gu Zhiyan transferred to Nanyu because he was dating someone in high school" crushed her courage. She never readily believed rumors, but this time, because he was special to her, she wavered.

(2) Gu Zhiyan had always been the golden boy in everyone's eyes, but his personality changed dramatically after he started high school. He was transferred to the city where his mother had grown up because of "a school romance." Here, he was carefree and uninhibited, yet distant and lonely, simply moving forward by habit.

To Gu Zhiyan in high school, the most memorable thing about Yu Wanxiang was that she was the girl his friend liked.

For his birthday in his final year of high school, he received a present unlike the ones he'd gotten before: a book he hadn't read yet, with a handmade four-leaf clover bookmark tucked inside. It read, "Wishing you peace and happiness, and success in everything you do."

(2) Years later, Yu Wanxiang and Gu Zhiyan meet again at a wedding banquet. Gu Zhiyan is still surrounded by admirers, while Yu Wanxiang has become bright and radiant, so different from before.

At the banquet, Gu Zhiyan hears his friend talk about how he once pursued Yu Wanxiang. The image of the girl from his high school memories grows ever clearer in his mind.

Yu Wanxiang thinks they'll never see each other again after the banquet, but one day Gu Zhiyan pulls her tightly into his arms and murmurs, "Yu Wanxiang, I only want you."

This is a semi-realistic little story about a girl's secret crush on a boy, their reunion years later, and their saving each other. The male lead wasn't dating anyone in high school; the truth will be explained later. Both leads are each other's first and only.
