Marriage first, love later / The powerful one learns to yield / The male lead falls first / Seven-year age gap
A cool-headed, disciplined capitalist * A romantic, oblivious little painter
Jin Yan, the newly appointed head of the Jin family, married the youngest daughter of the Ning family.
Everyone in their social circle thought it was a loveless business marriage.
After all, Jin Yan had always been reserved and cool, a workaholic with no life outside work. His schedule was packed from morning to night, and he had such an intimidating presence in meetings that he could make an intern burst into tears on the spot.
Ning Jiaming, meanwhile, was sweet, romantic, and carefree. She liked to paint and translate novels, and whenever the mood struck her, she'd get up at midnight to eat ice cream and watch old movies from the last century.
The two of them were complete opposites.
Their friends all wondered: would the man get tired of his pampered young wife first, or would she get fed up with that old fuddy-duddy first?
And yet, long after they were married, Jin Yan still wore his wedding ring, and Ning Jiaming was still posting gorgeous pictures of the cats they raised together on her social media.
Onlookers: We spoke too soon.

At first, Ning Jiaming thought the marriage partner her family had arranged for her was Jin Huai, the boy she'd grown up playfully bickering with.
She never expected it to be his serious older brother, Jin Yan.
She wasn't close to Mr. Jin. She'd only met him a few times as a child, and dutifully called him "Big Brother." They were incompatible in every way, and yet he was always acting like an elder and trying to manage her. How annoying.
In her eyes, Jin Yan was a heartless, hollow capitalist, an impenetrable night fog.
There was no chance they would fall in love. They were only a married couple in name, each getting what they wanted.
Until, a year into their marriage, after a fight,
he slipped away from a string of tedious meetings and took a night flight to Paris to find her.
His black coat wrapped tightly around her in the rain, while his refined, stern face scared off the suitors pestering her.
The downpour dispersed the fog and soaked his eyes.
His voice was restrained. "Even when you're done having fun, remember to come home, okay?"
In the studio, he tied her hands with his tie, and they didn't stop all night.
Afterward,
Ning Jiaming casually unlocked Jin Yan's phone and discovered a note titled "Princess Xiaoming"...
"Remember to remind her to take her medicine on time every day."
"The painter she mentioned has a new exhibition. Have the assistant book tickets in advance."
"She stayed up late again. I should go home early from now on and make sure she gets to bed."

"It's getting cold. My wife likes to sleep in, and she'll wrap herself around me like an octopus... So cute."
"Lately my throat often feels dry when we sleep together. It might be a cold or too much internal heat. I should avoid passing anything on to her."
"I ran into one of her old suitors. I don't like it, but I can't show it. After all, I'm the official husband."

"Maybe falling in love with her was as easy as breathing."

"She still hasn't come home. She even took her favorite teddy bear with her."
"I have to book a flight for tonight."

"Next time... I need to hold back. Her skin is fair, so it'll leave marks, and she cries easily. I'll have to comfort her."

Her first love seems to have started after marriage, and she only realized it belatedly ><
