As soon as the marketing accounts posted the news, the whole industry went into an uproar.
Xu Youyou, a die-hard fan of the couple, logged onto Weibo in tears that day. A second before she shut down their ship's fan page, she closed her eyes and opened them again, only to find herself face-to-face with two gorgeous people who had graced countless famous magazine covers together.
Meng Ting: "Youyou, Mom's going abroad for further studies for a while. Stay with your useless dad until I get back, and then I'll come get you."
Xu Peisong: "Youyou, just stay with Dad. Your mom's gone, and she won't be able to crawl back, so don't wait for her."
Xu Youyou just stared silently at them, calm on the outside, with a storm raging inside.
You two actually have a kid?!

After Meng Ting went abroad, Xu Youyou spent a somewhat bumpy stretch of time getting along with her temporary dad.
Every day after dinner, during TV time, she quietly changed the channel from the educational show Xu Peisong put on for her and searched through the networks for Meng Ting's programs, then silently watched her dad's reaction.
One evening, Meng Ting was being interviewed on TV. "Ms. Meng, you've just ended a marriage, and I've heard that plenty of men in the industry who have admired you for a long time are eager to make a move. What are you looking for in your next partner?"
Meng Ting replied casually, "Someone who likes kids and knows how to take care of people."
Xu Peisong, who happened to be walking behind the sofa, perked up his ears.
Xu Youyou hadn't given it much thought, until one morning a month later, when Xu Peisong suddenly barged into her room with a whole crew of people carrying cameras.
The comments exploded, and so did she.

Her dad had brought her onto a variety show. Wait, did you talk to Mom about this?!

During filming of the variety show:
Cooking dinner together. When Xu Peisong was choked by smoke for the third time, panicking and running around, nearly setting the whole house on fire, Xu Youyou watched it all with a face that said she'd made peace with death, then silently took the spatula from him.
Camping outdoors. When a bug suddenly crawled out of the sleeping bag and Xu Peisong turned pale, screaming nonstop, Xu Youyou calmly put on her shoes, grabbed the bug with her bare hand, and threw it away.
Getting dressed in the morning. Xu Peisong deliberately crouched in the perfect spot for a camera to capture his caring-dad persona. He picked up a sock and tried to put it on her, but couldn't find the opening. "Why did your uncle buy you this piece of junk? What was he thinking? The toes stick out at both ends!"
Meng Ting, who had been invited by the production team and was secretly listening behind the door: "..."
Xu Peisong, who sensed something was up and froze mid-motion: "..."
Xu Youyou met her mother's eyes, her voice trembling. "Dad, Mom bought these arm sleeves for me."
