However You Look at It, I’m a Gentleman of Elegance

[New readers, please read the notes below first to see whether this story suits your tastes] A proper gentleman dresses well, carries himself with grace and composure, and respects women. So I put on a suit, coolly and elegantly blew the brains out of the scumbag who was my target, then walked past the smoke without getting a drop of blood on my clothes. Afterward, I courteously escorted an innocent woman who'd gotten caught up in things to a safe place. I also flat-out refused my superior's order to track down and kill a young female researcher who'd defected. “Barolo! Are you still a member of this organization or not!?” “I am. But I made it clear before joining that I wouldn't take jobs involving women or children.” I slowly exhaled a cloud of smoke, smiled, and said nonchalantly, “It's one of my important principles as a gentleman.” * [Reader's Guide] 1. The main focus is Detective Conan (90%), with a little Black Lagoon, an older anime. It's fine if you haven't seen it. The protagonist is a watered-down booze from the Black Organization, codenamed Barolo. He's in a gray area, a suit-wearing brute who neither sides with the Black Organization nor jumps ship to the good guys. He's basically neutral evil, and his private life is open, so don't expect too much from his morals. 2. Because of his childhood, he has a strong instinct to protect women and children. He may seem like a playboy, but in practice he's very careful to maintain appropriate distance between men and women. 3. The protagonist is extremely powerful, a cheat-level jack-of-all-trades. His upper limit is the author's brain, which is often on hiatus. 4. The protagonist is the bottom. Gin and Akai have clear romantic feelings for him, but this extremely cold, heartless playboy cat hardly responds. In the end, Gin is the one who stays by his side. No other pairings besides the canon couples. 5. Blurb last updated on March 26, 2023. 6. There is OOC. OOC, OOC! This is an OOC fanfic, so please keep that in mind! Fanfiction is a heavily altered derivative work based on the original. Please don't let the fanfic's characterization affect your impression of the original! 7. Check out my original light novel, coming soon: "Am I Not Playing a Single-Player Game!?" [Upcoming Story Blurb] Jiguang recently found a new single-player game. A Western fantasy wasteland setting, with swords and knights, gods and magic. Best of all, the graphics were incredibly realistic, and the game offered incredible freedom. As long as you were willing to reload and daring enough to try things, there was almost no plotline or fate you couldn't change. The sheer volume of text, with not a single repeated detail, left Jiguang stunned. Jiguang: Holy crap, I thought the “big-budget AAA game” in the ads was just hype... This game is free and doesn't even have microtransactions. Is the developer really going to go bankrupt over this? He immediately started a new account and began exploring. At first, he thought he was playing Sekiro/Dark Souls/Monster Hunter. After dying 999 times, he was beaten so badly he started questioning his life. Then he thought he was playing Minecraft/Don't Starve. He starved, exhausted himself, and died of thirst. Chopping trees and gathering materials to build a house wore him out, and then a monster kicked in his little block house the very next day. Despair. Finally, he decided to treat it like The Sims/Stardew Valley/a dating sim. Jiguang settled in a village and ran around striking up conversations with NPCs, looking like this: Jiguang: Hi, got any quests? Any quests? How about now? Jiguang: Reload, reload. As long as I can reload, there's no quest I can't beat! Jiguang: Raise their affection, give flowers, books, herbs... Wait, what! The NPC whose affection I spent all afternoon raising died!? Reload! I have to reload! What? To save the NPC, I have to kill the BOSS? I... I'll do it! As long as it's not a scripted death, there's nothing we players can't handle! As long as it has a health bar, there's no monster we players can't kill! At last, having overcome every obstacle, Jiguang: ...Why am I stuck on a death save after the final BOSS fight!? Why can't I leave or reload!? Why can't I start a New Game Plus, either!? I haven't gotten all the platinum trophies yet! Wait, I just like playing games. I never wanted to transmigrate into one!? . This is a world on the verge of being overrun by demons. The fantasy continent of Orlanka is blanketed by the Seven Curses, which have spread through every kingdom and among every race. Corpses pile up here. The survivors drift through their days in a daze, while the soldiers of the crumbling kingdoms struggle in vain against the demons. In the end, even the gods of light who once shone over the world fall one after another. Little by little, people stop hoping for a better future. They either succumb to one of the Seven Curses and become creatures of darkness, or cling to their tiny patch of land, grateful for every extra day they survive. Until one day. An unnamed knight travels here from some unknown land, journeying a long way to reach this place. Dressed in a drab traveler's cloak, wearing armor whose origins no one can identify, and carrying an utterly ordinary straight sword, he faces the monsters that terrify everyone without a trace of fear, carving a path through the wilderness with nothing but himself and his sword. In this wasteland, do-gooders don't live long. Yet this nameless knight is a complete do-gooder. He never hesitates to help, and never turns away anyone who asks. He steps into the mire and makes his way through a monster's lair, returning battered and bruised with the keepsake of a stranger's father, a man whose daughter had only met the knight once. He heads to a desolate battlefield and rescues a surviving battle knight, then carries the helpless knight on his back as he cuts a path through the wilderness with nothing but himself and his sword. He enters a silent forest and battles the monsters, then finds the last surviving seed of the elves' long-withered Mother Tree and brings it back to their homeland. The nameless knight is absurdly powerful, and absurdly gentle and kind. People say he'll eventually die because of his own foolishness. But the knight never loses. He shines like the dawn itself, rekindling the faith of those who had given up. At last, the king of a fallen kingdom finds him and begs for his help, handing him the key to the Demon Realm. “O undefeated knight, become the hero who saves the world! Defeat the source of the curses, the Demon King of the Demon Realm, and restore the world to what it once was!” The undefeated knight still doesn't refuse a plea for help. And so, the Demon King is driven back, and the entrance to the Demon Realm, from which the ever-spreading curses emerge, is sealed. No new demons appear, and the ceaseless curses stop spreading. The ruined continent gradually returns to prosperity. But the hero who awkwardly used to comfort people with flowers, and even foolishly thought that big, grown men like him might enjoy flowers too, remains sealed in the world of monsters, forever fighting the monsters who hate him. . The legend of the undefeated knight is sung through the ages. Someone waits for him for a hundred years. Theme: A person should have a steadfast will they can hold to throughout their life.
