Music blared, and the lights flickered across her face.
She lowered her eyes to her glass. Suddenly, a warm breath brushed against her.
His voice was husky and close to her ear, as heavy as fate:
"After all these years, I still can't forget you."
Qing Can's body went rigid. Her fingers tightened around the glass until her knuckles turned white.
His lips nearly grazed her ear. His words were as soft as a sigh, but each one pierced her heart:
"At least I found you."
Her breathing faltered, her chest rising and falling.
"I missed you so much."
Her eyes burned instantly, and her throat tightened.
The memories she'd buried were ripped open.
Her fingers trembled, and the ice in her glass clinked softly.
Her heartbeat pounded painfully against her eardrums.
She parted her lips, but couldn't utter a word.
She could only be enveloped by his familiar scent, dragged back to that year, with no way to escape again.
