The Canary’s House-Trained Big Shot

Xu Zening met Meng Xiao when the other man was at his lowest, at eighteen.

That year, the Meng family fell into ruin. Meng Xiao's father disappeared to evade his debts, and his mother fell ill. The once-privileged young master was reduced to working in a bar.

Behind the mist-shrouded bar, he focused on mixing the house cocktail. His slender, beautiful fingers around the glass were as white and flawless as ivory, his refined air utterly at odds with the noisy surroundings.

Back then, Second Young Master Xu was prominent and dashing, the most dazzling figure in all of Jiang City.

Captivated by that one glance, he tossed money around and took the proud, unyielding swan into his care, turning him into a caged bird in the palm of his hand.

Years later, Meng Xiao never imagined that the first old acquaintance he would meet after returning to the country would be Xu Zening, at a reception held by two major business groups.

The man at the front of the room wore a sharply tailored suit and handled everything with decisive efficiency. Not a trace of his former spoiled, reckless self remained in his striking features.

The intermediary hurried over to make introductions. "Director Meng, let me introduce you. This is Mr. Xu, the current CEO of Mingyao Group and the investor in our project."

Meng Xiao paused for a moment, then held out his hand. "I've heard a lot about you."

Xu Zening's fingertips brushed his palm, teasing yet restrained. "Have you really forgotten, Mr. Meng? Shouldn't you be saying, 'Long time no see'?"
