Chu Ciyue is transported into a novel as the wicked supporting female character and the heroine's double. Her patron is Qin Weiqiu, one of the male leads.
Qin Weiqiu is exceptionally handsome, comes from a good family, and is impeccably well-mannered. He smiles at everyone, seeming utterly gentle.
Later, Chu Ciyue discovers that people who smile at everyone are either fools or madmen.
One clause in the lookalike contract reads: The second party must not develop feelings for the first party.
Chu Ciyue honors the contract and never develops any feelings for Qin Weiqiu, right up until she wins her freedom. She only ever shows him concern out of basic human decency.
Years later, Qin Weiqiu catches the hem of Chu Ciyue's clothes as she turns to leave. Tears fill his beautiful amber eyes as he begs, "A Yue, please love me."
A calm, slow-to-react, powerful heroine
