During her years at the Huayue House, Gu Shiyue met all kinds of people.
She thought this was all life had in store for her: corruption, indulgence, and losing herself in wine and pleasure.
But then she met Zhang Chenglin, the notorious "son of a disgraced official" whom everyone loved to hate.
Two parallel lines, each confined to its own world, crossed by chance and gave rise to a story no one else knew.
Zhang Chenglin said that he lived only for the revolution and his country.
But then he met Gu Shiyue, the woman he called "Fengyue." And so, a vivid stroke of color was added to his otherwise monotonous life.
But sometimes people meet only to part, just like this fleeting Republic, just like you and me, with nothing left unsaid.
Gu Shiyue spent her whole life keeping the Huayue House open. In the first half of her life, she did it to survive. In the second half, she did it for the man who never came home.
Zhang Chenglin: "Do you know what a materialist is?"
Ji Yuxing: "What?"
Zhang Chenglin: "Someone whose every unshakable conviction starts revolving around her the moment he meets her."

[Complete manuscript]
Loosely based on history: Some people, dates, places, events, and details do not exist or do not match historical fact. Only a very small part has any connection to reality. The characters' values and actions serve the story and do not represent the author's views!
Please don't overanalyze it! Please don't overanalyze it!! Please don't overanalyze it!!!
Theme: Amid the chaos of war in 1936 lie unseen snow and a love that can never be yours.
I would like to make a suggestion: there are several very modern (referring to the past few years) descriptions in the article, which seem very fragmented.
Now that I see it, the writing is very good and the plot flows smoothly. I like it very much.
