"If I could, I'd want to stay with you forever, until the day we grow old and reach the end of our lives."

Three years after Song Qingwan died, Shen Qianzhang stood in a suit and proposed to her cold tombstone. He personally wrote her spirit tablet and placed it beside those of the Shen family's ancestors.

"Song Qingwan, these are all my family. If you see them, don't be afraid. They'll keep you company, and you'll never be lonely again. I'll make sure there are lots and lots of people to keep you company."

"From now on, my family is your family too. You have a father and mother now. My parents love you, and I love you too. You have so many people who love you. You don't have to live in a dark corner anymore, because I'll drive away the darkness and let the light in."

"And I'll keep my promise. I'll always love you."

Later, he decided that what he'd said hadn't been quite right. Sniffling, he looked at the spirit tablet behind hers and whispered through his tears, "I love you, Song Qingwan."

"In this life, I'll love only you."

This time, he wouldn't let her go.

She would rest beneath the Shen family's cemetery, becoming his wife in name and in truth.

The secret hidden on the book's title page finally rose to the surface with the passing of time:
