The Beauty of Marriage

A melodramatic short story, mainly for practicing character writing

1. A delicate and gentle yet resilient, voluptuous beauty who doesn't know how beautiful she is, paired with a male lead who is cruel and ill-mannered as a youth and cold-hearted and ruthless as an adult (reunion after a long separation + school memories)

Han Cheng, the eldest son of the Han family, is over 35 and has had one lover after another, yet still has no children. Outsiders say his violent temperament means he is unlikely to have any heirs.

The head of the Han family and his wife are so worried that they invite a reclusive master to read Han Cheng's fate and see whether he is destined to have children in this life.

Han Cheng watches without expression as the head of the Han family and Madam Han bring in the reclusive master, his expression cold.

The master, however, is astonished when he sees Han Cheng. "The eldest young master Han is not as the rumors describe. Though he is fated to be a lone star, there are two lines in his children palace, one bright and one hidden."

Madam Han hurriedly asks, "What does that mean, sir?"

The master shakes his head. "One child is hidden, with a short life and not to be forced. The other is plain to see: that child of his was born fourteen years ago."

Han Cheng abruptly raises his eyes, his expression icy. "Fourteen years ago?"

Fourteen years ago, there was only one woman in his life.
