The Murky Files of 1990s Hong Kong

Blurb:

Ye Shan is the eldest daughter of a Hong Kong restaurant tycoon. She grew up in luxury, only to discover that she was the fake heiress, switched at birth. Unable to accept the truth, Ye Shan competed with the real heiress at every turn. The real heiress became a police officer, so she did too. The real heiress caught criminals, so she did too. The real heiress earned a commendation, and Ye Shan died in the line of duty...

After her death, Ye Shan unexpectedly picked up a few skills in the occult and was reborn at the time her family had just found the real heiress. This time, she turned over a new leaf, stopped acting like a spoiled brat, and protected her family, including the real heiress.

When the real heiress approached the man the Ye family had chosen as a marriage prospect for their eldest daughter, Ye Shan hurried over. “Inspector Lu, I don't think he's good enough for you. He'll get in the way of your career.”

Lu Jiatong: ...

When she learned the real heiress was taking a promotion exam, Ye Shan braved the heavy rain to bring back a pile of study materials. “Just focus on studying. I'll have your back!”

Lu Jiatong: ...

When the real heiress went on a blind date, Ye Shan brought a woman and child over, sat beside her date, and said, “Sir, it seems you forgot to tell your wife and child you were coming on a blind date. I wonder if they're okay with you being here?” Then she turned to the real heiress beside her. “Come on, your mom's calling you home for sweet soup~”

Lu Jiatong: ...

When the real heiress went on a mission, Ye Shan handed her the only bulletproof vest they had left. “Inspector Lu, be careful. Don't get too close to the front, and...”

Lu Jiatong: “Stop nagging! If you're scared, stay back.”

Ye Shan: ...

Was she scared? She was worried Lu Jiatong would be killed! Honestly, people never appreciate a good deed.

When the real heiress hit a dead end in her investigation, Ye Shan quietly sidled up to her. “Inspector Lu, I have a lead.”

Lu Jiatong studied Ye Shan, who had once been her rival at every turn but now protected her at every opportunity, and asked the question she had been holding inside. “Do you... like me?”

Ye Shan: ...

“No, no, no...” Ye Shan shook her hands like a rattle drum.

Lu Jiatong grabbed her shaking hands and said, word by word, “But I think I might have started to like you.”

Note: 1. A Hong Kong TV drama style, slow burn, plenty of twists, imperfect characters, and a large cast. 2. Trust in science. 3. Lots of original worldbuilding.

A bold, spirited real heiress and police inspector VS a reborn fake heiress with a little knowledge of the occult

Forthcoming novel: Love Regained

Love is this world's never-ending theme. If one day you lose it somewhere in this vast world, will you still have the courage to find it again? Can love regained be as it was before? Can the cracks and misunderstandings be mended over time? And if they can't, will you regret it?

Luo Beining is the third-generation heir to the LK Group. Her elders dote on her, and her siblings respect her. Still young, she is already a renowned neurosurgeon. She is beautiful and bold, irresistible to men and women alike, with admirers who could fill another province. She seems to have everything in the world, leaving countless people envious, jealous, and yearning for someone they can never have...

Yet behind Luo Beining's seemingly perfect life lies a regret that pains her deeply. That night, years ago, the phone call she missed became a nightmare she could never escape. From then on, she lost all news of that person, living for years in deep remorse, until that person returned to her in a way she never expected.

The wheels of fate have begun to turn again. What happened during the six years that disappeared?

Over the past six years, Kuang Yiran has lost everything, including the desires and emotions that ordinary people have. She doesn't feel lonely when she's alone, nor does being surrounded by people make her happy. She even has no respect for life...

Just when she thought she'd truly become a madwoman, a familiar face appeared in her line of sight once more. It was as if a stone had been thrown into a still, dead sea, stirring up uncontrollable ripples.

Kuang Yiran hated how easily her emotions could be swayed like this. She decided to return to that city, find the person who affected her so deeply, and then... kill her!

One is a madwoman who has lost everything; the other is trapped in the past and unable to move on. After all this time, they meet again. Will they continue where they left off, part ways for good, or torment each other?

Kuang Yiran doesn't know the answer, and she doesn't care to find out.

What she doesn't know is that someone is waiting for her with the answer. Even knowing that the road ahead is covered in thorns, that person is still willing to walk it.

“Big sister, it hurts here.”

“Big sister, can't you not meet him?”

“Big sister, are you abandoning me?”

“Big sister, I'm hungry~”

“Big sister...”

Kuang Yiran, eyes brimming with tears, crept over to Luo Beining's feet like a puppy begging for affection. She gently bit her lower lip, her hesitant expression like a tiny feather softly tickling Luo Beining's heart. Her heartbeat thundered, and the longing she'd suppressed for so long could no longer be held back...
