What should you do if you transmigrate to the Qin dynasty without a System or a golden finger?
Lin Shuyi says: There's no need to worry. You can still make progress without a golden finger; it'll just take longer and be harder.
Lin Shuyi returns to the State of Qin, before the First Emperor has unified the realm.
After transmigrating, she certainly wants to meet the First Emperor, but there's no need to rush. Helping the whole village escape poverty is more important.
Lin Shuyi starts with agriculture, leading the villagers in improving their tools and developing farming, animal husbandry, and livestock raising. Within two years, they achieve their goal of escaping poverty.
One day, several visitors from out of town arrive in the village.
The young man at their head is tall and long-legged, handsome and dashing, with an extraordinary bearing. Yet he's unusually interested in the field outside her house, asking questions like a curious child. “Miss Lin, why are the vegetables in your fields growing so much better?”
Lin Shuyi: Because of crossbreeding and scientific fertilization.
“Why can such a small village clear so much wasteland?”
Lin Shuyi: Because sharpening your tools doesn't delay the work. Good tools can double your efficiency.
“With such talent, Miss Lin, why not enter government service?”
Lin Shuyi: That's exactly what I have in mind. I'm serious about building the Great Qin!
And so Lin Shuyi sets off for Xianyang with a copy of The Great Qin's Ten-Year Development Plan.
In Xianyang Palace, the familiar young man sits on the throne and smiles at her. “I am unworthy, but I am the King of Qin, Ying Zheng.”
Lin Shuyi: Your Majesty, I need workers to build roads.
And so one hundred thousand convicts from Mount Li arrive to pave the roads.
Lin Shuyi: Your Majesty, I need workers to mine coal.
And so Meng Tian sends twenty thousand Xiongnu captives.
Lin Shuyi: Your Majesty, I need talented people.
And so twenty-four princes and princesses, including Fusu, arrive at her residence and line up to greet her: “Hello, teacher.”
By the First Emperor's final years, the whole world has been unified. Princes and princesses guard the four corners of the realm, and Fusu succeeds to the throne.
Peace reigns throughout the land.
The First Emperor is gratified: This is the golden age I wished for.
