The Villain Doesn’t Want to Save Anyone

1. Cen An'nan transmigrates into the villainous senior disciple of an action-fantasy novel. The moment he arrives, the System gives him a mission. He waves it off confidently: "I've got this!"

All he has to do is follow the plot, hurt the protagonist, and stay in character, right?

System: No. Your mission is to care for the young and vulnerable protagonist and so on.

Cen An'nan looks horrified: ...I'm familiar with this plot too!

2. Before transmigrating, Cen An'nan was forced to read a danmei fanfic based on this novel.

In the fanfic, a saintly person transmigrates into the villainous senior disciple. He loves helping the poor, and goes on to save the protagonist's junior brother, the young demon clan heir, and the Demon Lord in his youth.

Those poor little darlings are full of gratitude and think about him for years. In the end, unable to have his love, they turn evil and lock him away in a little dark room.

Three people!

Cen An'nan: So I'm supposed to follow that plot? You're not some proper System, are you?

System: Relax. It's different.

So Cen An'nan counts his mission targets: one, two, three, four, five... five!

Two more than before!

3.

Cen An'nan refuses outright, but his refusal fails, so he can only grit his teeth and go save people.

To be safe, he disguises himself as an old, ugly man and claims to be Patriarch Yuantong when he rescues them.

The patriarch is elusive and unpredictable, and kills or saves people on a whim. Borrowing his name ensures no one dares harbor ill intentions.

Cen An'nan: I refuse to believe anyone could fall for this!

Years later, Cen An'nan, who has always been on guard against his five mission targets, is suddenly captured by Patriarch Yuantong.

Yuantong: Everyone says I'm ugly these days. How are you going to make it up to me?

(Yuantong is the top, and one of the five mission targets.)
