The Sweet Fruit of the Seventies Wants to Lie Flat

In her previous life, Miguo was a hitwoman who never landed a job. A fortune-teller said she'd accumulated good karma, so in this life she'd be reborn into a family with every blessing and a life of wealth and privilege.

But

Miguo cautiously glanced at her father, whose expression was bland and who barely spoke, then at her brother, staring blankly into a corner. The more she looked, the more something seemed off.

There wasn't even a mother, just the father and son. How was she supposed to enjoy a comfortable life?

At this rate, she might have to spend her childhood serving the two of them around the stove!

She absolutely would not!

Even as a newborn, Miguo had already mapped out her life. She kicked and flailed, wailing loudly. She was clumsy, helpless, foolish, and knew nothing at all.

What she didn't know was that

her expressionless father was thinking about how to rise quickly in this era and make something of himself;

her stolid, frowning brother was rapidly reviewing advanced mathematical formulas in his mind.

At the sound of her cries, the two of them looked at the tiny baby on the bed and saw her pitiful little teary eyes.

They looked at each other.

Father: If you can't keep your own house in order, how can you put the world in order? Better change my daughter's diaper first.

Brother: A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. I'll go make dinner first.

Later, when Miguo's father gave a speech at Tsinghua University's centennial auditorium, he was asked what had motivated him most to succeed. He smiled warmly and said with a helpless air, "If you had a little daughter who wailed for milk, meat, and new clothes, and who punched other kids until their parents came knocking, you'd understand what motivation is."

When Miguo's brother received the Aerospace Service Merit Award, he was asked how he planned to spend the million-yuan prize. After some thought, he said, "You'll have to ask my sister."

Around that time, Miguo's girlfriends were asking her how she got so lucky.

Miguo thought about it. Maybe... because I know how to cry?

Making your kids work hard is old news. Getting your dad and big brother to work hard is the true secret to success.
