Of course, it was his dazzling entrance that first amazed me, haha. After that, whenever Akito appeared, all my attention would turn to him. I became absorbed in his joys and sorrows, and his face. Gradually, he became the only person I could see in all of Fruits Basket. That's right, him. I'm sure I don't need to explain again why I refer to Akito as "he." Honestly, when I first started writing, I always had an outline in my head, but it was only a broad framework. Akito and the people around him only started to move once I actually began writing. I wrote down whatever they did. At first, I always believed Akito and Giotto could never be happy. If they truly loved each other and put each other above themselves, then they would surely sacrifice themselves for one another. Even though I knew from the start that Akito would be even lonelier without Giotto, it was still something like fate. Here, I truly want to thank everyone in the future, and everyone in this era who inherited the memories and feelings of those from the future. Whether they acted with kindness, malice, or indifference, they all helped Akito greatly, allowing the world where he and Giotto met to continue as one filled with happiness rather than loneliness. There are so many characters in this book, and many of them are only here to tell the parts of those two people's story that couldn't otherwise be fully told. I don't know whether Akito and Giotto will appear again in another book someday, but I hope everyone else in the world where this happy story takes place can find happiness too.
