How surprising.
Those hypocritical immortals dragged the god they worshiped from his divine throne, plundered his domain, stripped his halls bare, and gouged out his immortal bones, sealing them beneath the spiritual ley lines.
Since the creation of the world, there have been four creator gods. One vanished without a trace thousands of years ago. Another spent all his divine power sustaining the world's living beings and died of exhaustion. A third wanted nothing to do with worldly clamor and transformed his body into spiritual ley lines to supply the immortal sects.
But the immortals were not satisfied with that little bit of spiritual power. A million years passed, and the ley lines left behind by the creator god were nearly depleted. Everyone pursued rapid cultivation by drawing on the ley lines, disdaining the tiny traces of spiritual power scattered throughout heaven and earth.
So they set their sights on the last creator god. They deliberately stirred up trouble to lure him out, then all the gods and immortals seized the opportunity to surround him when his guard was down. Yet even with so many of them attacking at once, they could barely hurt him. They roared and howled, all clamoring for him to surrender his life.
The god swept his disappointed gaze across them. Unlike the bloodlust in the eyes of those surrounding him, his own eyes were dim, as if he'd expected this all along.
In the end, he tore out his own immortal bones and fell from the clouds. Everyone rushed forward to fight over them. No one cared whether he lived or died. They let him fall like a kite with its string cut, vanishing into the sea of clouds...
About a hundred years later,
a little girl with her hair in a pair of hanging-bun knots found a peach-sized seed beneath a tree. In the sunlight, it glimmered with every color of the rainbow.
She turned it over in her hands, tilted her head in curiosity, and murmured, "Huh, what's this?"
