When Ning Xi expressionlessly slaughtered his enemies and set the Bright Society before him ablaze, he heard a crisp voice beside his ear:
[Beep. Congratulations, Host, you've triggered the Hero System.]
[The System will now help you become the greatest hero, the savior who rescues this world.]
Ning Xi, already the most wanted criminal on the continent of Sain and a notorious demon king: ???
[Mission One: Take first place in the freshman assessment at Tor Academy.]
Ning Xi: ... He already destroyed that academy. What now?
With no other choice, Ning Xi created a new secret identity, playing both villain and protagonist. He also had to manipulate the plot to boost reader satisfaction and make the story more exciting.
Star Chart is a power-progression novel serialized on Red Dot Forum. It tells the passionate story of a protagonist who goes from being a good-for-nothing despised by the stars to becoming their ruler.
From the day it began serializing, it was hugely popular.
Every new chapter sparked excitement and lively discussion among readers.
[Readers' Forum]
[That new serialized novel, Star Chart, may be written by a big-name author, but its setup is way too clichéd! It's got a traditional, passionate, saintly protagonist who smiles and forgives everyone, plus a male supporting character who immediately kneels to pledge his loyalty and become his underling. The author isn't even subtle about baiting the boys' love crowd.]
[This is so formulaic. I could see the ending from chapter one.]
[Good heavens, times have changed! Nobody goes for this stuff anymore!]
Later:
[Holy crap, sorry, I take it all back. The author was playing a huge game all along. The protagonist and the villain are actually the same person?! What an insane twist, and now all those clues that didn't make sense fit perfectly.]
[Never mind, I have nothing else to say. Ning Xi is my wife forever.jpg]
*Probably a secret-identity story about how to be both the villain and the protagonist, manipulating the audience from behind the scenes.
*The protagonist is adored by everyone, with all the characters having one-sided crushes on either him or one of his secret identities.
Theme: No matter where you find yourself, you can always keep your heart set on the light
