The elderly chairman of the Wanshi Group dies unexpectedly, leaving his vast business empire to his son, Tang Xiaoyu, who has just graduated from university.
The company's executives each have their own plans, while the Tang family's relatives watch covetously. After losing both his parents in quick succession and being betrayed by his fiance, the twenty-something Young Master Tang finds himself in increasingly dire straits.
Fortunately, the chairman's executive assistant, Shen Xuejian, is entrusted with the task of protecting Young Master Tang in his time of need. In gratitude for the late chairman and his wife's kindness, he takes on the responsibility of keeping Tang Xiaoyu safe.
There are many enemies.
The greatest threat is Tang Xiaoyu's ill-intentioned second uncle, Tang Shixian.
He holds both shares and power. The old guard are wavering, the uncle is strong and the nephew is weak. Even a fool knows which side to choose.
Executive Assistant Shen is meticulous and serious, but the job is no easy matter. Tang Xiaoyu is suppressed at every turn in the company. Tang Shixian, on the other hand, is capricious and arrogant. At a banquet, he even slips a hotel room key card into Shen Xuejian's pocket in full view of everyone, telling him to name his price.
The standoff continues until Shen Xuejian has a dream.
He realizes that both he and Tang Xiaoyu are cannon fodder in a novel.
The original plot is absurd: Tang Shixian is actually the top lead, and he falls in love with Tang Xiaoyu's former fiance, the one who broke off their engagement, who is the bottom lead. The powerful heir to a wealthy family spoils his delicate little flower rotten, cooing, "My darling is so sweet," and smothering him with kisses and hugs, while helping him take revenge on his nephew.
Shen Xuejian works so diligently, only to be a clown supporting a cannon-fodder character.
He has only two thoughts:
First, he can't abandon Tang Xiaoyu.
Second, is Tang Shixian really an idiot?
Late at night, the lights in Shen Xuejian's office are still on. As he sits deep in thought, someone knocks three times.
Tang Shixian leans against the doorway and looks at him with a smirk. "Executive Assistant Shen, still working this late? Have you decided how you're going to deal with me yet?"
The protagonist names are provisional and will probably change.
(The title and blurb are just scribbled down for now. I'll change them later.)
(But the author has decided to stick to simple business-war tactics.)
(This isn't really a business-war story either. It's a romance.)
