The Female Lead's Foil in a 1970s Educated Youth Novel

Su Tang opens her eyes again and finds that she has transmigrated into the counterpart of the heroine in a period novel.

In the educated youth story, the original owner and the heroine were both sent down to the Liutian Forestry Farm.

The heroine is diligent, ambitious, and unafraid of hardship or hard work. She is eventually promoted to a job at a timber mill and finds her happily-ever-after with the deputy director of a textile factory.

The original owner, meanwhile, is lazy and greedy. To escape the backbreaking labor, she stages a fall into the water and clings to the son of a commune leader. In the end, she is tortured to death.

The story has reached the point where the original owner stages her fall. The moment Su Tang comes to, she swims straight for the shore.

Obviously, she'd rather lie flat and wait to return to the city than be tortured to death in the prime of her life.
