Blurb:
[Alluring, delicate schemer] × [Older, lovestruck flirt]
An Zhi transmigrates into the role of the young madam of the Shangshu residence in the Great Shang Dynasty.
The original owner had admired her husband since childhood and finally got her wish by marrying into the Xiao family. But after the wedding, her husband left without a word.
Heartbroken, An Zhi waits for him, dutifully caring for her parents-in-law, looking after her sister-in-law, and managing the household without complaint.
Two months later, her husband returns, but not as a living person. He comes back in a coffin, accompanied by a tearful green tea who is heavily pregnant.
Her mother-in-law immediately acknowledges the child as the Xiao family’s only heir and plans to give all the family property to the unborn baby.
Her father-in-law also brings home a distant relative named Xiao Jinglan, intending to adopt him as his heir and have him inherit the family business.
Caught between the two sides, the original An Zhi becomes collateral damage. Her father-in-law resents her for having no children and regards her as useless. Her mother-in-law blames her for her son’s death and orders her to be buried with her late husband. The original An Zhi dies, and An Zhi transmigrates into her body.
Faced with a disastrous start, the transmigrated An Zhi is furious:
“Just because I haven’t shown my claws, you think I’m a pushover?
If you can play the green tea, so can I.
If it’s children you want, I can have one too.
And men? I can use them and toss them aside...”

Xiao Jinglan is the person most trusted and relied upon by the emperor. Though he holds only a third-rank post, he has the authority to impeach officials and speak directly to the emperor. Cold and unyielding, he is known throughout the court as the Iron-Faced Censor.
Driven by the hatred of a conquered nation and his family’s vendetta, he sets out to investigate, believing that one must enter the tiger’s den to catch its cubs.
Every corner of the vast Shangshu residence disgusts him. The sole exception is his “widowed sister-in-law,” who looks so pitiful yet is ruthless, and with whom he falls in love at first sight.
To Xiao Jinglan, An Zhi is a bewitching creature that steals the soul:
Sometimes she’s like an innocent, carefree child, bright and delicate, making him feel cherished and swept off his feet;
Other times, she’s like a two-faced, cunning little fox, baring her fangs and claws to tear into him, devouring his flesh and blood, yet leaving him unable to resist;
When she needs him as a weapon, she is gentle and alluring, obedient to his every word;
Once she’s done with him, she’s heartless and merciless.
Xiao Jinglan is clearheaded and composed, as steady as a monk in meditation. But when it comes to An Zhi, he willingly lets her manipulate him and turns himself into her blade. He goes mad with devotion, cherishes her as his most precious treasure, and spoils her without restraint, only to be cruelly abandoned by her time and again.
All it takes is a coquettish little, “Uncle, help me...”
And Xiao Jinglan falls right back into the same trap, granting An Zhi’s every wish.
Others are outraged, but only Xiao Jinglan knows:
“This heartless little fox is the person in this world who understands me best.”
