Synopsis
[Blurb]
He Tan is the youngest executive at the Bureau of Anomaly Oversight, and the fastest-rising executive in the entire bureau.
His daily work involves killing aberrant species, intercepting nonhuman creatures and dangerous threats, and exploring ancient civilizations.
Death follows him like a shadow, and danger is just another part of life.
That was until He Tan met Si Zhu for the first time.
In the noisy surroundings, the man wore a flamboyant emerald silk shirt, its collar wide open, revealing glimpses of his smooth, pale chest.
"You're my blind date? A man?" Si Zhu looked up. Beneath the dazzling lights, his features were striking, his aura gloomy, and he looked as if he hadn't fully woken up.
A faint demonic aura surrounded him, and neither his words nor his actions seemed very human.
A demon was still better than a gigolo, the executive thought.
The second time He Tan saw Si Zhu was during a covert operation, when their target suddenly went out of control.
A colossal machine called the Ancient Garuda Engine charged straight into a manor, smashing through half the villa and sending He Tan tumbling into a bathroom with three walls collapsed.
The blind date he'd met once at the bar stood with his back to him, his skin as pale as jade and his manner perfectly calm. "This property is worth eighty million. It's the only thing I own. Mr. He, you're not planning to refuse to pay me back, are you?"
He Tan: "..."
The executive, whose bank balance had only just reached five figures, was now saddled with an eight-figure debt and had taken a troublesome ancestor into his home.
His creditor and troublesome ancestor had a terrible temper, was lazy, and lacked human morality and common sense.
He never left the house, spending all day playing games on his phone and ordering takeout.
He even made the executive go downstairs to collect his deliveries and takeout.
He Tan couldn't stand it anymore. "You can't just..."
Si Zhu kept playing his game without looking up. "Eighty million."
"...Never mind." He Tan swallowed the rest of what he wanted to say.
The third time He Tan saw Si Zhu somewhere other than home was after returning from a major mission.
A faint scent of blood clung to him. The voices of his dead teammates echoed over and over in his head. Pain and rage churned in his chest, and he felt like a wandering ghost moving through the shadows.
Just as his reason was about to give way, he ran into Si Zhu and an unfamiliar man.
The stranger was furious, his expression agitated. "Si Zhu, I'm telling you, without the Zhao family, you're nothing! Do you think you're still the Zhao family's second young master? A selfish, short-tempered good-for-nothing like you isn't even fit to touch a single hair on A Jing's head!"
"Don't even think about replacing him. Stay away from him. You're not worthy!"
He Tan: "...?"
Then his troublesome creditor grabbed the stranger by the head and slammed it against the wall on the spot.
He Tan had suddenly gone from the dark world to a melodramatic romance scene. He rushed over and wrapped his arms around Si Zhu, cementing his reputation as the "other man". He was afraid Si Zhu would kill someone in public and get him dragged into it.
The fourth time He Tan ran into Si Zhu somewhere other than home was when he was badly injured.
The resurrected monsters came at them from every direction, roaring hideously. They devoured his companions' corpses, and there was no way out.
Then a dragon-shaped creature descended from the sky and wiped them out with ease.
Its monstrous body coiled like a mountain. Enormous green horns, like the branches of trees, grew from its head, and its eyes shone as brilliantly as the sun and moon.
The mythical creature, resembling neither god nor demon, neither human nor ghost, spotted He Tan. It lowered its enormous, fearsome head, and its deep, imposing voice rang out in every direction. "He Tan, why are you here? Didn't you promise to buy me extra-cheese fried chicken and brown sugar boba milk tea with cheese foam?"

1. Si Zhu is the protagonist, and He Tan is his CP. The blurb is undecided and still being revised.
2. It's on the lighthearted, brain-off side, though the actual story is more serious than the blurb suggests ().
3. No fixed top or bottom; ship them however you like.
Theme: Where the heart leads, flowers bloom in the mud.
