I'm updating this again and will finish it little by little. [If you're interested, please add it to your favorites! Thank you, sending love!]
Coming soon: "Princess Anle's Outrageous Daily Life" and "The Crown Prince and His Wife Are Still Trying Their Best Today"
This is a fictionalized Qin setting. Read for fun. Some details are invented to move the plot along, so if you want historical accuracy, please don't read. The timeline begins during the Zhao period. One-on-one romance.
After working incredibly hard to get into a history graduate program, Yin Shu woke up one day in the Spring and Autumn and Warring States period, transformed into an eight-year-old girl named Mo'er, a dancer and musician in a wealthy merchant's household.
Looking at the body, which was much smaller than her own, the first thing she thought was: What will happen to my thesis?
She'd wanted to specialize in pre-Qin history, but she hadn't actually meant to come here and see it for herself!
Her goals were to stay alive, escape, and hold out until the Qin Dynasty was established.
Before long, she discovered that she could draw random mystery boxes anywhere, and could also hear other people's thoughts, with only one exception.
At her stall, she heard the kindly-looking Uncle Wu, who ran the steamed bun stand beside hers, gloating inwardly:
[The old woman was the smart one. We can make two buns with the filling we used to put in one.]
Yin Shu immediately paid for one. "Uncle, I have such bad luck. There's barely any meat in this bun!"
Everyone else: I get it! So we're not the only ones with bad luck.
After finally finding a way out of her life as a dancer and musician, Yin Shu was sneaking a bite of some snacks that had fallen from the sky: chicken feet, a rare treat. They had a hint of mint, but at last she could satisfy her craving. Then she heard a plot to poison someone:
[You could sprout wings and still never make it back to Qin alive!]
The person they planned to kill sounded a lot like the escape partner she'd gone to so much trouble to find.
**
During dance practice, someone tripped Yin Shu and she fell. When she got back up, she found something heavy in her sleeve: a bottle of "pepper."
She happily added some to her porridge for flavor, only for it to burn straight through her skull.
The strict food rations left her ravenous. One night, she accidentally knocked her head as she climbed into bed, and a fragrant meat pie filled with preserved vegetable appeared beside her pillow.
After eating it, she was full of energy, and wasn't hungry all day despite eating nothing else.
That night, Yin Shu counted one thousand and eight sheep and still couldn't fall asleep.
After several mishaps, Yin Shu had lost all faith in those inexplicable mystery boxes. Then one day, a wooden plaque dropped down, bearing the words:
"Hua Tuo's medical skills: valid for thirty days"
--
Much later,
Yin Shu: "I haven't even figured out if this is edible yet! What if it has some strange effect when you eat it? I'll taste it for you, Young Master."
Ying Zheng: "No need, thank you. ...When can I draw the next one?"
He wanted more seeds for planting, miraculous technology, and... He was running out of instant camera film!
--
Zhao Zheng had lived through hardship and turmoil for as long as he could remember.
Born a hostage, abandoned at three, he wandered from place to place and endured constant bullying.
When he was ten, a little girl mistook him for a homeless beggar. Though hesitant, she still blinked up at him and gave him a piece of pastry filled with preserved vegetables.
He was extremely wary and had long since stopped accepting food from strangers, but for some reason, he ate it bite by bite.
It tasted good, though for some reason, he couldn't sleep for two days afterward.
Reader's guide (content notes):
[The heroine has only just gotten into graduate school. She hasn't started studying there and is not a professional researcher!]
1. You can think of this as returning to the First Emperor's youth, so please don't read with preconceived notions.
2. The main characters are both career-minded, but this is a romance novel. If you're not interested in the romance between the male and female leads, this isn't for you.
3. I'll do my best to research and stay true to the period, but this isn't a historical novel. If you care deeply about historical accuracy, please don't read it (it's best to treat it as a fictional setting).
4. The heroine can read minds, but no one else knows.
5. The mystery boxes can be opened in many different ways, and may contain good or bad things from any dynasty, including the modern era and the future.
Premise: Stay true to your original intentions and remain positive.
It was for infrastructure construction, there were too many chores, and the heroine was directly taken out of the game. It didn't feel like a partnership and she was just a tool to get the props. Goldfinger lost that sense of exhilaration. Instead of the heroine dominating Goldenfinger, she was controlled. Then the First Emperor's son felt too rigid. You see, he would act like a spoiled child after he ascended the throne. After the reunification, he also had a very high tolerance for Confucian scholars who poked their noses and faces. He has not returned to Qin yet. He feels so superior that he has no words.
Will the hostess be picked up in the future?
I need to change slowly
I just need a space to keep it safe. It would be unsafe if I didn't keep such a good thing.
Continue to save articles and wait until there is more to read.
Damn, are you still updating?
Brother Zheng is still very good at winning people's hearts, and he won't be so cold to useful people.
Great, we are finally equals, not slaves at will.
I'm so angry. The heroine's status is too low and she can only be bullied. She hates the doggy hero. . . . .
Even if he is a biological brother, I don't think the heroine should take care of him. . . . . Fortunately, okay, it's not a kiss, otherwise I would be afraid that someone would think that he should be taken care of.
