Bai Yu had skin as smooth as jade, a slim waist, and long legs.
But it wasn't until after she died that she learned she had been living inside a period novel.
In the book, she was divorced because she couldn't have children, then died alone in the hospital from a terminal illness. Meanwhile, her ex-husband Jiang Kai took the opportunity to marry her cousin, then enjoyed one success after another and gained both fame and fortune. Her cousin lived in luxury.
Bai Yu ripped up the script: To hell with this!
Reborn at eighteen, Bai Yu kicked her ex-husband to the curb.
But the family patriarch insisted that the engagement between the two families had to go ahead. Since she couldn't get out of it, Bai Yu thought it over and made a decision that stunned everyone:
She chose her ex-husband's older brother, a distant and aloof big shot with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, long legs, and no wife.

Jiang Lin was reserved and chaste, and extremely difficult to approach. No one had ever seen him smile at a girl. Just as everyone was wondering what kind of woman could catch his eye, Jiang Lin submitted a marriage application to his superior.
His intended bride was none other than his younger brother's former fiancee.
Everyone was dumbfounded. They thought that, since blood was thicker than water, the woman would surely be sacrificed.
But after Bai Yu moved to the island, Jiang Lin did the laundry, cooked, and took care of all the housework. Even when she had nightmares, this taciturn, cold man would hold her and gently soothe her to sleep. He doted on her so much that she became the envy of everyone on the island.
To outsiders, Jiang Lin was cold and distant. Only Bai Yu knew that when they were alone, he kissed her with burning passion.
He was indifferent to everyone else, but indulged and spoiled her, showering her with affection.

After breaking up with Bai Yu, Jiang Kai was sent to the harshest part of the Great Northwest.
But it didn't matter, because this world was a novel he'd written. Soon, Jiang Lin would die in an accident, and Bai Yu would come back to beg him to take her back. Then he could return to the capital, live in a courtyard house, and reach the pinnacle of his life.
He waited and waited, until Jiang Lin rose to prominence and Bai Yu got into college, founded a company, and became filthy rich. She was even doted on by Jiang Lin to the skies above???

[Women's growth / family ensemble / Lingnan culture / mutual devotion]
In the early 1970s, the compound at No. 3 of the Guangzhou Canning Factory was home to the Lin, Chang, Zhu, Su, and Jiang families.
Lin Feiyu moved into the Chang family when her mother remarried. Together with her three stepsisters, she became known as "the Four Flowers of the Chang family."
The eldest, Chang Mei, was beautiful and sharp-tongued. She seemed haughty, but she cared most about her family. The second, Lin Feiyu, had a strained relationship with her mother due to all sorts of conflicts, but luckily she met Jiang Qimu, the best boy in the world.
The third, Chang Huan, was carefree and fell for the man her eldest sister loved. The youngest, Chang Jing, had low self-esteem and a people-pleasing personality. Her biological mother abandoned her, but she could never escape her mother's control.
As reform and opening up got underway and Guangdong's economy flourished, the fates of the families rose and fell with the tide of the times.
The compound's residents lived through the restoration of the college entrance examinations and the pain of layoffs. Some went into business, some seized new opportunities, and others went astray.
Life in the compound, and the coming-of-age story of a group of Nancheng sons and daughters.
A snapshot of several families' lives amid changing times.
Theme: Live well.
