[Western Crossover] The Burnout Isn't Planning to Do Their Job Properly

Make a big show of every point, stir up controversy, relentlessly trash the other candidates, and turn the campaign into a stand-up comedy special. That year, a mayoral candidate ran on a promise to make Gotham great again. With the hopeful confidence of someone who had absolutely no chance of winning, she used her unique campaign tactics and actually got elected. Now, let's tell the citizens a special news joke and see whether they'd rather hear the good news or the bad news: -- The good news is, back then nobody had figured out this woman was useless. People had never been so enthusiastic and hopeful about changing the city. -- The bad news is, she really is useless :D What, the city government is out of money? Easy. Raise taxes. What, an unknown virus is spreading? Listen, it's all those germs brought in by oo-Man. What, the factories are causing too much pollution? Build a drainage pipe and dump it into the sea. Let it flow into neighboring Almond City. They'll figure something out. What, the citizens say life is too depressing? I built a Ferris wheel and roller coaster on the cliff, but inspections cost too much, so I skipped them. The whole point is the thrill. And I built a municipal crematorium at the foot of the cliff, so it's a complete package. What, the citizens' complaints are piling up at city hall? The problem is that you chose a bad location. Move city hall to the faraway suburbs right now. I'll add twenty toll gates along the way, so it'll be harder and more expensive for them to get there. What, the mayor of the neighboring city invited me over for a visit? It looks so prosperous. Let's launch some local talent over there and blow it up. Listen, being a great mayor is actually very simple. All I have to do is make the neighboring city worse, and that makes me the great one. Theme: Face life's many difficulties with optimism, find meaning in your own existence, and take responsibility for what you ought to do
