Mistaken for a God After Transmigrating into a Book

Is it trendy these days to end up inside a novel you wrote yourself? Even I have to join the trend and end up in the novel I almost (not really) finished.

Yan Yunqing: ... (wears a tired smile)

People mistake him for something other than human because of his appearance.

Yan Yunqing: (serene) Thanks for asking, but please don't revoke my human status.

When he's completing System missions to deal with corrupted demons, he runs into the protagonist of his novel.

Yan Yunqing: (through a very thick filter) My baby is amazing!

His novel's protagonist spots him. "God! You've finally come to see me!"

Yan Yunqing, a human, an author, and definitely not a god, imagines for a moment what it'll be like when they discover he's not the God of Light. He looks horrified. "You've got the wrong god. I'm leaving!"

After Yan Yunqing uses a System skill to heal a corrupted demon, the people around him say, "You truly are the supreme God!"

Yan Yunqing gives an awkward smile. "You've really got it wrong. I'm just an ordinary person."

Everyone: "God, are you abandoning us?"

Yan Yunqing, taking an instinctive step back as his conscience pricks him: "I'm really not your god.

"I'm weak, so weak that even the lowest-level monster could kill me. I also have no abilities befitting the position of a god. Please don't think of me as your god."

Everyone: "We're sorry to have made you uneasy. You needn't worry about these things, because your very existence is a symbol of hope to us."

"You are our motivation. We are sincerely grateful that you came to us."

"But I'm not your god."

"No, you are our god. The god who saved us."

Yan Yunqing: Fine, fine. Since you all insist, I'll just have to graciously accept the role of your god.

But when Yan Yunqing sees the world that worships gods for what it is, and sees people hurting others in the name of God...

Yan Yunqing: I'm done being this "god"!

He lowered his gaze to the people, his expression gentle, his voice like a spring breeze. "The age of the gods ended long ago. This is the age of humankind."

Reader's Guide

1. This is a misunderstanding story. The protagonist is human, not a god. Also, this is my take on Western fantasy: there are only humans and beastfolk. If you see anything strange, it's a branch of the beastfolk (dogeza).

2. The protagonist's personality differs from the synopsis, and he's a healer and support, with little offensive power.

3. Please treat the System as an independent character. It's not simply a golden finger.

4. Chapter one's author's note contains additional worldbuilding. (It's not complete yet. Any additions will be included in other author's notes.)
