A Doctor in the Wasteland

At first, Xiao Yuan only kept working as a medical student so she wouldn't expose herself. She never expected the patients here to be so interesting.

The cadaver donated to the school for research in anatomy lab had a bizarre appearance. It was hard to tell it had ever been human at all. It looked like a giant, deformed toad.

The cafeteria chef was a great cook, but his head was split open and looked like a stalk of grain. Eating his food required you to exchange an equal weight of your own flesh.

A tentacled monster went berserk, treating every living thing nearby as food and forgetting that it had once been human, too.

A mutant covered in eyes, who could barely see because of all the overlapping images, begged to have the extra eyes removed.

The patients who secretly came to her with money were even more interesting. One was a burly young man who cried and begged her to remove the babies in his belly. Xiao Yuan took a look: there were so many of them, and they were lively. They seemed like fun, though they would cost him his life.

Xiao Yuan genuinely loved her job. To her, pollution was the best food, and her patients were all so strange that they fully satisfied her curiosity and desire to research. Dr. Xiao silently put on her white coat and gloves. She held a scalpel that looked razor-sharp, while vines behind her writhed with claws and teeth, capable of piercing a skull with ease. Her expression was gentle. "Don't be afraid. I can treat you."
