[Bright and spirited young lady from a noble family x reserved, devoted husband who dotes on his wife]
In the eyes of the world, the Marquis of Yongning and his wife are newlyweds, deeply in love. But only the couple themselves know the truth about their marital crisis.
Their marriage has nothing to do with love. They simply can't love each other because they are of different genders. (Not really.)
Lu Wanyin grew up in the watery towns of Jiangnan, bright and lively by nature. Even after being forced to study hard for years, she had no great ambitions. She only wanted to take life as it came and leave the rest to fate.
Then an imperial decree arrived, and she was sent to the Marquis of Yongning's residence as the free bonus in a buy-one-get-one deal. That's when she realized her life wasn't going according to the script she'd imagined.
Three months into the marriage, her husband still hadn't come home. Lu Wanyin renovated the garden, married herself off, managed the accounts, and organized the storerooms, working diligently and putting her whole heart into the job. But she couldn't stop herself from cursing: How could a marquis's grand estate be short not only a bookkeeper but also an embroiderer?
The first time she saw her husband, Lu Wanyin exclaimed, “Oh, you're still alive!”
The second time, she used his debt of gratitude to her advantage: “You owe me your life, so repay me with a meal.”
By their third meeting, Lu Wanyin finally realized something was off: “You love him so much. Are you sure you only see him as a friend?”
Shen Zheng, the Marquis of Yongning, had been unloved by both his father and mother since childhood. Standing there, he looked just like a little cabbage left out in the cold.
The day before his wedding, he received an imperial order to investigate the mysterious disappearances of young women. But at an inn on the outskirts of the capital, someone tried to assassinate him.
A woman wearing bridal robes saved his life. Grateful, Shen Zheng promised on the spot: “If your husband really is a heartless man, I'll break his legs for you.”
Three months later, Shen Zheng came home. His first thought was: Is this my house?
The first time he saw his wife, Shen Zheng suddenly understood: Was I the heartless husband all along?
The second time he saw his wife, Shen Zheng wondered: Who's prettier, me or Lady Yao of the Eastern Palace?
Someone cooked for him, and someone took him to the garden to watch the moon. Just as Shen Zheng was about to successfully convince himself he was in love, he finally realized what was wrong: “Did you marry me for me, or for the Crown Princess?”
Neither of them wanted to join this family, and neither wanted to break it apart. These two hopeless romantics grew together side by side, finally realizing after all their twists and turns that they didn't have to face every storm alone.
Reader's Guide:
1. One-on-one romance, both leads have no prior partners, marriage before love, happy ending.
2. Set in a completely fictional world with no real-life inspiration. Don't nitpick the historical details.
3. The pace is slower at first, with a large ensemble cast. Read at your own discretion.
4. The characters' values do not represent the author's.
This is a heartwarming story about growth and healing. If you enjoy it, please follow this new author and add the book to your favorites. Thanks for your support, love you all!
Also, please take a look at my upcoming novel. Pretty please!
Blurb:
[Unconventional fallen Mary Sue x resilient, gentle man with a hidden side]
Li Ruolin was born into a prestigious family and possessed breathtaking beauty. Her grandfather held great power, and her aunt controlled the imperial harem. She was supposed to carry on the family's glory, enter the Eastern Palace, and live a life of wealth and privilege.
But then her family's world came crashing down. The man she loved turned out to be the very person responsible for its destruction, and the noble young lady became a prisoner.
When the truth came to light, Li Ruolin realized that other people's suffering had been caused by her grandfather. Her family's wealth had been built upon countless corpses, and her life of privilege had been watered with the blood and tears of many.
She couldn't let go of her love for him or forget her family's kindness, but she also refused to remain shut away in her chambers, wallowing in self-pity. She resolved to break free from her cage and sever her ties to the past.
Just then, someone lifted the carriage curtain and asked, “The road to Lizhou is long and mountainous. Would you be willing to travel with me?”

Fang Zhiwei had spent half his life carefully plotting and planning, never daring to make a single misstep. All so that one day he could return home openly and reclaim his family name.
He trapped himself in a prison of his own making, never daring to reveal his true feelings to anyone. As a result, he was always too late, always missing his chance.
Fortunately, Li Ruolin didn't hold it against him. After experiencing the ways of the world, she resolved to love him just as he was from the beginning.
Steadfast and unwavering, always true.
Reader's Guide:
1. Not a one-on-one romance. Happy ending. The heroine has other romantic encounters, so don't read if that bothers you.
2. Set in a completely fictional world with no real-life inspiration. Don't nitpick the historical details.
3. The characters' values do not represent the author's.
Theme: When you reach the end of your rope, look up and see spring.
!!! Finally the misunderstanding between both parties was solved hahahahahaha
It's a tie, it's a tie! After staying up all night, I left a paw print (in a daze): It looks good! A treasure that makes people want to read more! The copywriting setting is so fresh. This is only a small part of the entire framework. What's even better is—— The writing style is natural and funny; I really like the heroine, Miss Lu San is really a generous, open-minded, capable and interesting girl! The male protagonist has changed more, but he has perseverance and ambition. He grew up in such a difficult environment and has not grown. He just has problems with emotional expression, which is rare (I almost couldn't hold back when he cried at one point in the middle. It's novel! Boys can do it too!). He is also an upright and gentle young man. I like it! Although the process of the two people's relationship progressing is slow but natural, "Yue Lao's red thread... Is so wonderful." The second brother Lu Han and many other characters are also very fleshed out! Of course it can just be a light-hearted viewing, but it has a rather heavy background. Seeing the courage of the protagonists to "repair the broken mountains and rivers", I like it even more (are there no good people in this court? I'm not sure so I'll watch it again)! The first few chapters explain the background and recall memories during the scene transition. Many of them are written in great detail, which makes it a bit confusing. However, I think that overall it is getting better. Found a rare treasure~ I wanted to comment when I saw it, but it's a bit messy until now. I'll think about it later. Author, feel free to read it and keep writing! Expect?
Mr. Shen, you've already reached this point, can't you do it?
Very good article! It took me a whole day to read it! Very good!! It can be said to be sad yet lively, heavy yet humorous. Most of the writing at the beginning was very smooth (at least in my opinion), but the ending felt a little jumpy and rushed. I think it's like a group portrait novel. It's really different from most romance novels where the male and female protagonists have a fixed template of a few supporting characters. Each one is flesh and blood, with both light and dark sides, and even interspersed with the reasons for their formation of such characters. I am always moved by the kindness in the articles and feel that I am a gentle person! However, although the hidden line about the collusion between the Beiyi and the Queen Mother has been running through, I feel a little uncomfortable. It is very clear and complete, and it is not explained clearly. Although it continues the style of understanding the meaning from the beginning to the end in the article, this line does not feel that it is fully explained~ Come on, I hope you will read the next book!
Oh my god, the prince doesn't like the imperial concubine, does he? The prince is so perverted!
The writing style is quite good, and the characters and plots are quite vivid, but what is the main plot? There are many directions so far, and I want to know how each direction develops, but they are all mixed together, and I feel dizzy while reading the plot.
It's so good. I'd love to see more!
Isn't this well written? I finally found it
This book is really good, come on
The writing is smooth, the story is strong, and the author is great.
