[A dual-personality estate-clearance specialist x a gentle, resilient office worker with a terminal illness]
Huadie is drowning in workplace fatigue, working late every night without overtime pay. As expected, the overworked wage slave suddenly dies one night. But she wakes up inside the novel she had just opened to the first page before she died. The book has: dual personalities + childhood friends + beautiful but tragic characters + mutual secret crushes + saving each other...
Huadie, thinking to herself: I got transmigrated after reading just the first page. Where's my reader's perspective, exactly? (smiles)
Back to square one: the Huadie in the book has just graduated from college and must start job hunting all over again.
A monthly salary of three thousand, plus overtime? No way. She's had enough of being a wage slave.
Editing and filming? Can't do it. Not even a little.
Driving? No license.
Teaching? She'd only mislead the students!
Playing matchmaker? She's not a dating coach. Let people love whoever they want.
Organizing and decluttering? Now that's something she's good at!
High take-home pay, flexible hours, no mandatory days off, no sales work, and full benefits. Becoming an estate-clearance specialist is a piece of cake.
A woman living alone is murdered. A kidnapped woman escapes from the mountains. A lover passes away. A lonely student suffers from depression...
This line of work gives Huadie a profound understanding of family, friendship, love, and social issues...
For the first time, she falls in love with a job.
But why does she feel that her boss, coworker, and childhood friend is a little strange? One moment he's calm and quiet, the next he's brash and lively, like two completely different people.
She looks at the person before her in bewilderment. Though he has the same face, his raspberry-red hair is slicked back, and he's wearing a leather jacket. He looks nothing like his usual self. "Who are you, really?"
The person before her curls his lip into a mischievous smile. "Little Butterfly, I'm Yu Que now."

Huadie has a parrot. The little thing never listens to her and won't say a word no matter how she tries to teach it. But one day, she suddenly hears it singing.
"You're my little butterfly, I'm your little Fei. You perch upon my shoulder, snuggle close beside me, and from now on I'll never run wild."
It keeps repeating those lines. Later, she hears it singing with different lyrics, though she can't quite make them out. It must have just learned them.
One day, she secretly hides away, hoping to see who's been teaching it.
Then she sees Yu Fei, his raspberry-red hair neatly brushed back, paired with a white traditional Chinese shirt that seems at odds with it. Patient and gentle, a smile playing at his lips, he sings softly as he teaches the parrot, line by line.
"My little butterfly, I can change for you. If you'll only give me a chance, I promise I won't let you down. I won't waste your love or your beauty."
-
"Will you come and sort through my belongings after I die?"
"I will."
Reading notes:
1. The character setup takes inspiration from the Korean drama Move to Heaven.
2. Episodic stories.
3. One-on-one romance, both leads are each other's first and only love. The second male lead is Steve.
4. The secondary personality sees the female lead only as a younger sister and will disappear in the end.
