Roommates

Ning Zhao moved into a new apartment through a friend's recommendation. His new roommate arrived late, and turned out to be Luo Xiang, a high school classmate.

After all these years, Ning Zhao still had the feeling they were worlds apart.

But one day, Ning Zhao ran into Luo Xiang at the bar where he worked. The young man had left a couple of buttons undone and looked back with a faint smile.

Ning Zhao heard someone call him "Princess."

He immediately understood: Luo Xiang's line of work might not be entirely respectable.

Because of their old friendship, Ning Zhao couldn't bear to leave him going down the wrong path. He personally fastened Luo Xiang's open collar and even drank in his place.

Luo Xiang didn't clear up the misunderstanding or turn him down. Supporting the drunk Ning Zhao, he told their friends, "Yeah, this is my boss."

Only later did Ning Zhao learn that "boss" could also be read as "wife."

After Luo Xiang came out, his family pressured him to marry. They had apparently found him a gentle, considerate, well-educated young man and sent him over for a visit.

Seeing his high school classmate and secret crush in the hallway, a man who couldn't have been less like that description, Luo Xiang's annoyance vanished. He smiled faintly. "Long time no see."

Just as he was wondering at how forward the other man was, even bringing a suitcase as if he planned to move in, Ning Zhao asked, "By the way, does the rent include internet?"

Luo Xiang: "...?"

Luo Xiang: "It does."
