On the first day Tang Cheng sat next to Xi Rui, she was both happy and nervous. She was happy because he could teach her how to solve problems, and nervous for the same reason. After all... she wasn't very bright. One explanation might not be enough, and she was worried he might lose his temper and slap her to death.
In their first week as deskmates, Tang Cheng plucked up the courage to ask him a question. He said impatiently, "I don't know."
In their third week, Tang Cheng persevered and asked again. He raised his eyes and wrote down a formula.
In week X, Tang Cheng pressed her lips together and casually poked him.
"Didn't I just teach you that?"
"I accidentally forgot."
"Are you brain-dead?"
"..." Tang Cheng fell silent, her fair little face tilted up as she looked at him quietly.
"Tsk." Xi Rui raked a hand through his hair and resigned himself to teaching her step by step.
Later, Xi Rui watched the well-behaved girl beside him doing her problems and couldn't help asking,
"Why don't you ask me questions anymore?"
"I-I know how to do them now."
"Damn it."
At first, Xi Rui thought she was an ordinary glass of plain boiled water: bland and tasteless. He didn't expect her to be a can of soda, looking quiet on the outside but fizzing away inside.
This is a sweet little story about a student surpassing her teacher and leaving him with nothing to teach.
