After Faking My Death, My Nemesis Fell to the Demonic Path

Everyone knows that Yan Miao, the personal disciple of the Cloudfloat Sect Master, is a peerless genius. She began practicing the sword at six and took first place in the sect tournament at fifteen, making her the youngest disciple ever to win.

Just as well known is that, for nearly ten years of sword cultivation, she has been locked in a rivalry with Shen Wang, the young master of Fengxun Prefecture.

Rumor has it that their first spar with wooden swords, when they were young, drew blood. Later, they fought over a bone sword and unleashed lethal attacks, nearly killing each other. Yan Miao beat Shen Wang to first place at the sect tournament, and ever since then, they have been at each other's throats.

As people say, they are a pair of enemies made for each other.

But then Yan Miao's spiritual meridians were damaged. She took up demonic cultivation and betrayed her sect.

Her demonic cultivation advanced by leaps and bounds, so the sects joined forces to capture her and sent Shen Wang, who had just emerged from seclusion, to deal with her.

--

Yan Miao still remembers the day she died.

Amid the blood, the young man held a long sword, the Fengling sword intent coiling around him. The blade, Frostseizer, was steeped in icy light.

At the edge of the cliff, her long hair was disheveled and her body covered in blood.

He stood alone, like a fresh fall of snow, his robes fluttering in the wind.

That sword pierced Yan Miao's heart. She fell from Xunfeng Cliff, where she should have died and vanished from the world.

From that moment on, Yan Miao no longer existed.

--

Everyone says Shen Wang was tainted by Yan Miao's malice.

The once-promising young master of a sect, devoted to vanquishing demons, slaughtered his way through the world, fell into demonic cultivation, and became a demon whom everyone in the sect wanted dead.

But no one knows that after Yan Miao died, Shen Wang kept watch over the empty Xunfeng Cliff for seven days and nights, piecing together the fragments of her marrow pearl from the sheer cliff face, one inch at a time.

He kept her marrow pearl for company and wandered the world with her sword, year after year.

--

Many years later, when Yan Miao saw Shen Wang use the Fengling sword intent again, she finally understood.

That attack was supposed to be fatal if it landed. But the killing move he used against her back then had been full of deadly openings.
