(This story: melodramatic angst, and the exes' reconciliation arc is underway.)
The day Su Mingran died was the same day the Su family's adopted son, Qi Xinghe, was officially added to the family register.
He lay in a hospital bed receiving an IV, while the TV was full of news about Qi Xinghe.
#The Su family's second son, Qi Xinghe, officially enters the entertainment industry, with limitless prospects#
#The eldest son, Su Mo, came to congratulate him, praising his younger brother Qi Xinghe as well-behaved, sensible, ambitious, and hardworking#
#Gu Pei, president of the publicly listed Gu Group, publishes a long post praising Qi Xinghe as a rising star#
No one knew that Su Mingran was the Su family's real second son. No one knew that today was Su Mingran's birthday, either.
Lying in bed, Su Mingran thought back on his life and found it truly bleak.
He was the second son of the family. When he was seven, he was accidentally kidnapped. He finally returned home at thirteen, but everything had changed.
His place in the family had been taken by the adopted son, Qi Xinghe. His parents had long since stopped caring about him. His older brother doted on Qi Xinghe, and his older sister looked down on him. Even Gu Pei, his childhood friend and the only person who had ever been on his side, liked Qi Xinghe.
In agony, Su Mingran turned over in his hospital bed and pulled out his IV. Summoning the last of his strength, he crawled to the hospital rooftop and called his older brother.
The phone rang for a long time before Su Mo finally answered. "What do you want now?" he said irritably.
Su Mingran paused, then smiled. "Brother, do you really hate me? Do you never want to see me again?"
Su Mo replied coldly, "Yes. So stop calling me."
Su Mingran hung up and jumped.
When he opened his eyes again, Su Mingran found that he was still alive. He hadn't died.
Now that he had a second chance at life, Su Mingran didn't plan to return to the Su family. Life with them had been too painful, and he didn't want to repeat the same mistakes. This time, he wanted to stay far away from them.
But they regretted what they had done.
Su Mingran looked at his remorseful parents, his older brother and sister desperately trying to make it up to him, and Gu Pei, who wanted to start over with him. He said coldly, "It's too late."
[Everyone except the top gets a groveling redemption arc. The top doesn't appear in this blurb.]
[Please read the content warnings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!]
· A melodramatic, angst-filled story. Emphasis on melodramatic: it's extremely melodramatic! No forgiveness in the reconciliation arc, everyone is awful, and the entertainment-industry plot takes up a relatively small part.
· If you come across something you dislike or a dealbreaker, please stop reading right away. I can't guarantee that this story will suit every reader's tastes. My abilities are limited in every respect (including poor prose, broken logic, elementary-school-level writing, and so on).
· The next steps in the story's development have already been included in the chapter before it goes premium. Please consider whether it suits your tastes before buying! The content is extremely melodramatic, best suited to readers who love melodrama. A reminder: if you don't like it, just move on. Please leave it for readers who do enjoy it. To put it bluntly, just because you don't like it doesn't mean nobody does. There's no need to upset both sides, and there's no need to keep reading if you dislike it.
· You don't need to tell me if you're dropping the story. Just click away in the upper left. Please don't make personal attacks. Attacks on the characters will be reflected back at you (if you go too far, I'll insult you right back). I generally don't delete comments (but I will delete comments from content thieves and people who read pirated copies, and I'll delete hyb if I catch it). Comments with especially harsh wording are usually deleted by the site moderators when they manage the comments section.

[Please add my upcoming story 1: The Robot Kid from the Future Goes Viral on a Parenting Variety Show]
Ye Chu was a robot kid from the future. From the day he was created until the day he died, his sole task was to bring joy to his owner's family.
His owner had a happy family. Later, they had a younger child, but that child died not long afterward.
Ye Chu's task was to take the place of the owner's child and fulfill the owner's wish to remember their beloved son.
Every day, he tried to live like a model human child, doing his best to win the affection of his parents and older siblings.
But every member of his owner's family saw him only as a robot to help them pass the time and remember the child they had lost.
As the robot reached the end of his life, Ye Chu closed his eyes and made one final wish: to become a real child in a family, and to experience human emotions.
When he opened his eyes again, Ye Chu discovered that he had transmigrated.
In a parallel world, he had become a four-year-old human child from his owner's family who suffered from delusions.
This world was not the year 3023, but 2023 in a parallel universe, an era when human technology was still underdeveloped.
Now that he was his owner's child again, Ye Chu had experience. He knew all of his parents' and siblings' preferences, and tried his best to become part of their human family.
Later, his human mother took him to appear on a variety show, saying it would help her understand human children better.
On the show, he made plenty of silly mistakes. He often said he was out of battery and needed to recharge, that water would make him short-circuit, and that he was a robot who didn't need to eat.
The human aunties in the comments always laughed at him, then praised him for being a cute, beautiful human child.
His human mother often sighed and said that if he couldn't be cured, she'd raise him for the rest of his life.
His human father doted on him, taking him everywhere and giving him whatever he wanted.
His human older sister seemed to dislike him, but he often caught her secretly buying things for him.
His human older brother was aloof and cool, but whenever someone bullied him, he was always the first to stand up for him.
Ye Chu experienced the human affection he had never received as a robot, and suddenly felt that this world was wonderful, except for...
"Ye Chu! You're too weak. You have to get up early and go running tomorrow!"
Except for Jiang Shixin, the human kid he hated, who made him exercise every day.

[Please add my upcoming story 2: A Dog-Blooded Reconciliation Story]
Du Yunting lay in a pool of blood, watching the cars pass by as memories of the past flashed through his mind. He closed his eyes and thought back.
Three years ago, Du Yunting fell off a cliff. When he woke up, he had lost his memory and was a simple-minded man with no independent thoughts. That was when he met Fei Jingchen.
Fei Jingchen was a famous top-tier star. Taking pity on Du Yunting, who had been in a car accident and had no family, he brought him home.
Fei Jingchen treated him extremely well. He gave him a new name and cared for him through a serious illness. He even took him along to work, despite his busy schedule, and didn't mind that Du Yunting had no memories and was slow to react.
Later, they secretly got married.
Their wedding was simple. He and Fei Jingchen's family and friends shared a meal, then the two of them registered their marriage at the civil affairs bureau.
Their married life was peaceful, though Fei Jingchen's family occasionally made things difficult for him.
"Why did Fei Jingchen marry a fool? It's exhausting just trying to talk to him!"
"Exactly! He's a top-tier star, and he went to all that trouble to marry some nobody. He must be an idiot too!"
At the time, Du Yunting had rarely put much thought into why Fei Jingchen had married him. He figured Fei Jingchen must love him very much, otherwise why would he willingly marry a fool?
But he was wrong. Completely wrong.
One time, Fei Jingchen was chatting with a few of his friends.
"Why did you marry a fool? Are you really in love with him?"
Fei Jingchen smiled. "With that fool around, my dad pities me and feels sorry for me. That lets me take the inheritance openly. Otherwise, why would I marry him?"
Du Yunting was slow to catch on. It took him a long time to understand Fei Jingchen's words. Fei Jingchen didn't love him at all. He had only been using him.
He slowly went back to their home, looked at their marital bedroom, signed the divorce papers, and left.
He was a fool, but he still understood that people should marry for love. Without love, he'd rather be alone.
After leaving the Fei family, Du Yunting had no idea where to go. Sweaty and exhausted, he walked across the crosswalk. A speeding car hit him, and he ended up lying in a pool of blood.
Du Yunting closed his eyes and thought back on the moments they'd shared over the past three years. He wanted to forget the past and the person who had hurt him.
A year later, the fool Du Yunting had once been was now the president of a publicly listed company. He had money, power, and fame, and lived a life others envied.
His former husband, Fei Jingchen, stood outside his home, begging for forgiveness.
Du Yunting looked at him in confusion. "Who are you?"
Du Yunting had forgotten those three years, and he had forgotten Fei Jingchen.
Fei Jingchen looked at him with bloodshot eyes and couldn't speak for a long time.
Later, people around Du Yunting noticed Fei Jingchen following him around like a lackey. One of them asked curiously, "He's pursuing you! Knowing you, if you like him you'd get together, and if you don't, you'd reject him. Why are you letting him follow you around?"
Du Yunting swirled his glass of red wine and said calmly, "I've always needed someone around to gather information. His status makes him a good fit. I'm only using him."
His friend said, "I thought you liked him."
Du Yunting sneered. "Like him? Who would like a pawn?"

Theme: No matter how difficult things get, always hold on to hope
Mom, come on, neither of these young lovers opened their mouths, they are so anxious QAQ
Why is that clown surnamed Qi Tiaoliang still jumping around and not offline? It pisses me off to death.
Ahhhhh, do you want to express your feelings? Excited
Mom: This family still has to rely on me
I finally finished it. It is indeed a bloody novel that the author personally certified. It has an ancient flavor. I feel it is very suitable for filming into a short drama.
Gong is a little too unconfident. How can Gu Pei be a substitute? The substitute is only for his lover. He can barely act as a friend. Gu Puxin should be half the fault of Min's nonsense.
How shameless, actually living in someone else's house for several months.
Ah ah ah didn't I order everything? Why did jj say I didn't?
"City" is a big thorn in the side of the author~

I actually guessed Qi Xinghe's true identity
