Sang Xingyun was frail and sick of life. He had tried to die several times, but never succeeded, simply because he was incredibly lucky and always happened to be rescued.
Then one night, he witnessed a robbery. The hapless victim kicked the robber several meters away, and the robber stumbled toward him, clutching a knife.
Sang Xingyun's eyes lit up. He picked the perfect spot to get himself killed. Thanks, big bro, for bringing me a knife!
The next second, he was "lucky" enough to be dragged into an infinite world, where clearing a level would extend his life in the real world, while failing meant death.
Sang Xingyun: ...Heh.

A beautiful, frail-looking boy appeared in a new player's livestream. He was so stunning that no one could forget him, but he didn't seem very bright. He innocently trusted the other players and handed over the life-saving item he'd just obtained.
Viewers: Damn it, my wife may be dumb, but she's so beautiful!
The boy's beauty and naivety drew the other players' attention. Just as one of them was about to take advantage of him, that player accidentally triggered a death mechanism while trying to curry favor with the boy, and was eliminated.
Viewers, one second earlier: Don't bully my wife! I'll punch you into next week!
Viewers, the next second: ?! My wife is... actually pretty lucky, huh.
The boy was still unbelievably dumb. He seemed to be asking for death when he triggered the same death mechanism, but while being chased by a monster, he tripped on flat ground and somehow got the chance to strike back and kill it.
Viewers: ??? I don't think I'm even surprised anymore.
The boy made another stupid mistake. An NPC tricked him into nearly drinking a poisoned fruit juice, when the player who had stolen his life-saving item earlier showed up. Parched with thirst, the player grabbed the juice and drank it, dying on the spot and getting eliminated.
Not only did the item the boy had given away return to him, he also got all the clues the player had collected.
Viewers: Is my beautiful wife a little too lucky? (Scratches head)
A couple of days later, the boy suddenly lost interest. He stopped acting like an idiot and cleared the level through reasoning alone, using only incomplete clues.
[System Notification: Congratulations to player [Sang Xingyun], the first new player to clear this instance. Reward doubled.]
Viewers: Wait... Was he pretending to be dumb before? That's ridiculous!
Later, a rumor spread among the players: Watch out for a player named Sang Xingyun.
He had god-given beauty and luck, and could get anything he wanted with ease. He was innocent and carefree, yet had a strange obsession with getting himself killed. No matter how reckless he was, he never died. Instead, the players who tried to deceive and use him would all end up dead, seemingly by accident.
They say he was also involved with the unlucky big shot at the top of the rankings.
The other players trembled with fear: He's definitely a big shot pretending to be innocent and messing with everyone, the luckiest guy around!
Sang Xingyun sighed: Another lucky day today.
[Reader's Notes]
1. The protagonist is a highly intelligent, frail, beautiful heartthrob. He seems innocent and delicate, but is actually ruthless and good at putting on an act. He's frail in body but not in spirit, and absolutely merciless. I'll try to make his intelligence convincing, so please go easy on me if I fail (.)
2. The love interest is a major player with unbelievably bad luck. He's the hapless victim from the blurb, and can't help being so unlucky that he keeps running into accidents.
3. The livestream viewers aren't human. Spoilers in the comments are automatically blocked from players' view.
4. The protagonist's luck buff and the love interest's bad-luck buff sometimes cancel each other out. At that point, they'll have to leave it to fate and see who gets lucky or unlucky (just kidding).
5. Don't mention other authors' works in my comments, and don't mention my work in other authors' comments.
Message: Be grateful for how lucky you are.
