Born Evil Spirit

Li Cuo was born with the ability to attract evil spirits, and the ability to suppress them.

During a class after he became a trainee underworld enforcer, the teacher said, "High-level evil spirits deliberately release their aura to lure in weaker ones, then devour their power. Sometimes they also disguise themselves as ordinary spirits, so be extremely careful."

Li Cuo, sitting in the underworld enforcer camp: ...I'm really scared.

He cautiously kept his head down and stayed out of things. Whenever he ran into an evil spirit, he kept as far away as possible, terrified that he might accidentally devour it and then get eliminated by his own colleagues.

During the Impermanence selection tournament, Li Cuo got separated from his teammates and wandered into an evil spirit's lair.

The comments were full of doom and gloom: Apparently this contestant has severe evil-spirit PTSD and only dares to fight in team PvP matches when his side has the advantage.

But the once-raging evil spirits were seen prostrating themselves on the ground, offering the treasures they guarded as reverently as worshippers.

On the night of the exam, Li Cuo discovered that the boss of the exam site was none other than his frail, helpless roommate from the mortal world.

By day, his roommate walked unsteadily, collapsed at the slightest breeze, and was never without his medication.

By night, the major boss charged after the examinees with a knife, full of vigor, chasing them down three whole streets.

When they met again later, the other man's manner was cool and distant, as if they were strangers. "Xue Yi, Director of the Fifth Spirit Division. I'm your superior now."

With everyone watching, Li Cuo forced a polite smile. "Good to see you, sir. Thank you for all your hard work."

Once he was alone, Li Cuo opened the slip of paper that had appeared in his hand. Three bold characters were written on it: I was wrong.
