Beyond the thirty-third heaven, in the clouds, the immortals dwell.
Passion begins with tribulation, love is born of hatred. This love may fade, but this hatred is hard to erase.
[IMPORTANT!!! Four-way romantic tension, but ultimately one-on-one]
Synopsis:
The thirty-three heavens shelter the living beings of the six realms. Beneath them lies a vast, desolate land of demons.
Legend has it that the Demon Lord perished ten thousand years ago. Ever since, the demon clans have searched far and wide for a way to bring him back. At last, they found a method: find a suitable body and offer it as a blood sacrifice to revive the Demon Lord and welcome his return to the demon lands.
A body perfectly suited to the Demon Lord appears only once in a thousand years. Unfortunately, Yun Ci is that once-in-a-millennium vessel. The elders call him the "Holy Son of the Demon Clan" to make it sound nicer.
Honestly, he really wanted to give them the finger while they discussed their resurrection plans right in front of him, but he never got the chance.
But one thing was clearly more urgent than making that gesture...
If the blood sacrifice succeeded and the Demon Lord came back, Yun Ci would certainly die. That left him with only two choices:
Either wake the man who had appeared out of nowhere inside his soul-consciousness and lain there doing nothing, apparently the "Demon Lord," then ask him to go sleep somewhere else.
Or flee far away before the day of the sacrifice.
He had tried the first option many times, but the "Demon Lord" was sleeping far too deeply. No matter how much Yun Ci kicked him, tried to reason with him, or called to him with all his heart, the man showed no sign of opening his eyes.
With the sacrifice drawing near, Yun Ci had no choice but to pack his things and slip away along the route he had planned a hundred, a thousand times.

After countless hardships, Yun Ci finally escaped. Without looking back, he leaped into the Thirty-Three Heavens, ready to embrace his new life.
But before his feet had even landed properly, a "mad dog" bit him.

After finally taming the "mad dog" (or rather, the wolf demon), Yun Ci pulled himself together and set off on a new journey with Alana. Unexpectedly, they encountered an unknown assailant. Just as the two were in danger, the old man inside Yun Ci's soul-consciousness finally opened his eyes and took care of all their pursuers with a single move.
Yun Ci was delighted and applauded. "The Demon Lord is mighty!"
Alana chimed in. "Mighty, awwoo!"
But the "mighty" Demon Lord frowned. "Uh-oh, this is bad. I can't beat the one coming after us now, either."
Yun Ci froze. "...Doesn't that person walking toward us look like an old acquaintance of yours?"
The Demon Lord nodded hesitantly.
Yun Ci's heart sank. "You and him... don't get along?"
The Demon Lord nodded.
Yun Ci's face crumpled. "That badly?"
A nod.
Yun Ci was distraught. "How bad is it?"
"Well," said the Demon Lord, spreading his hands, "he's actually the one who killed me last time."
Yun Ci trembled, tears streaming down his face. "Then what do we do now?"
"What else can we do?" the Demon Lord said nonchalantly. He tucked Yun Ci under one arm and Alana under the other, turned around, and took off running.
"Obviously, we run!"
