Shi Xu is an illegitimate son with a congenital eye condition that sometimes leaves him temporarily blind. His parents see him as useless trash.
But even trash has someone he loves:
Sheng Jinheng, heir to the Sheng Group.
He folds paper stars, writes love letters, and saves up to buy Sheng Jinheng gifts.
He doesn't mind if his feelings go unanswered.
Then an accident kills him on the way to deliver a letter, and his correspondence comes to an end.

Sheng Jinheng has always known Shi Xu likes him a little.
He is, in fact, deeply in love with Shi Xu's clumsy, pure-hearted nature.
But Shi Xu is shy, like a snail that pulls in its feelers at the slightest breeze.
Afraid of frightening him, Sheng Jinheng keeps his distance and waits for him to grow up.
Instead, he gets news that Shi Xu has died in an accident.
Sheng Jinheng loses his mind, clutching Shi Xu and refusing to let anyone touch him.
He sees a thin sheet of paper stained red in Shi Xu's arms. It says:
"The one hundred and thirty-fourth letter to Brother Aheng."
Consumed by grief, Sheng Jinheng investigates and discovers the truth:
He never received a single one of the previous 133 letters.
And Shi Xu wasn't shy. He had suffered so much, with so little love and so much loneliness. He had been humiliated since childhood, covered in wounds. How could he dare to say he loved someone out loud? His love... had been ground down into the dirt by his own low self-esteem.
Sheng Jinheng regrets not understanding sooner.
His obsession is so strong that, when he wakes from a dream, he has returned to the past, to Shi Xu's youth.
Sheng Jinheng refuses to wait any longer. He packs up that very night, finds the high school Shi Xu attends, and impatiently corners him on his way home, pinning him against the wall with a hand on his waist and red-rimmed eyes. "Shi Xu, be my friend."

Fifteen-year-old Shi Xu has just started high school.
One day on his way home, he meets a strange older boy.
The strange boy transfers into his class halfway through the term and, for some inexplicable reason, becomes his desk mate.
From then on, the boy sticks to him like a plaster and won't leave him alone.
To and from school, during breaks, even when he goes to the bathroom, the strange boy follows him everywhere with his hands in his pockets, brazenly refusing to take no for an answer.
Shi Xu doesn't dare say anything, but he's terrified inside.
One day, Shi Xu's eye condition flares up, and he suddenly goes blind.
Lost on a busy road, he stands helplessly as tears well in his eyes.
Then he suddenly finds himself in a warm embrace.
A voice gently reassures him, keeping him from panicking: "It's okay. I'm right here."
Shi Xu recognizes the voice. It's... that strange older boy.
Later, Shi Xu discovers the boy wasn't there to scare him. He was there to... love him.
