No natural disasters, no wars, no infectious diseases.
Yet countless humanoid monsters crawled out of the sea and launched a frenzied assault on human society.
People called it the ocean's revenge, retreating farther and farther inland.
At a mental hospital on the front line of the coast, Gu Zhi awoke from a deep sleep and carved out a territory with a kitchen knife.
The first rule of the apocalypse: Survive.
The second rule: Find a group that comes looking for you.
The third rule: Return to a normal life.
Gu Zhi managed to accomplish the first two on her very first day, by accident.
When she finally reached the central base established by the Federation, she discovered that the world there had changed beyond recognition.
Humanity had broken through technological barriers, and the world had entered the early cyber age.
Mechanical prosthetics were all the rage at the base. The lower classes could barely afford three meals a day, while the upper-class capitalists were busy fighting among themselves before even dealing with the threat from outside.
Gu Zhi chose to return to her mental hospital and establish a base of her own.
And so an ambulance from the mental hospital appeared out of nowhere, rescuing people trapped in cities everywhere.
In this apocalypse, the safest place was neither the Federation base, with its thick, sturdy walls, nor any of the large or small bases founded by others.
It was Gu Zhi's mobile mental hospital.
