The Great Shaman

Wu Li was once the shaman of the human race who was most attuned to the heavens and earth, but her most trusted elder sister sealed her away.

Thousands of years later, she once again felt the call of her people, who offered their hearts' blood as a sacrifice.

It was her sister's descendant.

Lin Susu was a minor celebrity, a virtual unknown in the entertainment industry. She considered herself ordinary, but her romantic past was anything but, featuring the body-double trope that had been done to death in web novels.

Thanks to that relationship, just as she was about to leave the entertainment industry, she landed a spot on a slow-paced deserted-island farming reality show that had become a sensation even before filming began. But she never expected to encounter a paranormal incident during production. On the brink of death, she suddenly remembered the family legend her grandmother had once told her.

As the vengeful ghost closed in, she pulled from her neck a necklace woven from five-colored cords, with an irregular black gemstone pendant hanging from it. Gritting her teeth, she stabbed it into her chest.

In an instant, the wind roared and clouds gathered, and the ghost was reduced to ash.

The director and others who had been saved along with her assumed Lin Susu had some sort of mystical powers. One day, someone asked her for a talisman; the next, someone else asked her to catch a ghost.

Luckily, her family really did have an ancestor who could do just about anything.

The only problem was, taking care of the ancestor was no easy feat!

Wu Li: I only drink morning dew from magnolia flowers.

Ever dutiful, Lin Susu got up early and walked around, but couldn't find a single magnolia tree. With no other choice, she ducked into a supermarket and bought a bottle of lychee-flavored soda.

Reader's guide:

* The female lead, Wu Li, isn't human. She's a shaman.

* Although Lin Susu is a supporting female character, she also has a character arc.

* The male lead probably won't appear until very late, and will be little more than background scenery.

* This is just a wish-fulfillment story. Please don't read too much into any original worldbuilding.
