An alternate universe means a lazy way out for an author like me, who knows next to nothing and can't be bothered to look up reference materials.
This is a story of the heavens, the mortal world, and the underworld.
There are people, ghosts, demons, and immortals.
One day, the underworld's ever law-abiding, upstanding resident, King Yama, decided he wanted to quit. More accurately, he didn't resign, but abandoned his post. The excellent resident Meng Po abandoned hers too. What would become of the underworld? Or, to be more precise, what would become of the mortal world? Because these two deserters didn't just quit for good. In their haste to leave, they recklessly let the evil spirits out of the underworld.
But when all is said and done, this is still a little romance story.
