A cool, smug little cat x a warm-hearted, cold-faced big dog
Fang Heling receives a letter informing him that he has been hired as a librarian at HS University.
Before he arrives, a student falls to their death on campus.
A student casually mentions that something similar happened two years ago.
Building Twelve belongs to the School of Humanities. Associate Professor Ji Songyu, who teaches there, is easygoing and handsome. Both incidents seem to be connected to him.
A ceiling fan wobbling precariously. A chill in the library. An empty reading room, a white shadow flashing past, flickering lights, and a song that plays at a fixed time, heard only by him.
An ethereal voice calls from the bottom of a pond after the rain, luring the bold and unwitting ever closer. A huge stone statue at the entrance to the college guards a secret that belongs to Them.
Fang Heling hears someone calling him, in the real world and in his dreams.
In the black mist, slender, youthful fingers hold a fine golden chain. Black-and-gold boots press against the back of the person beneath them, and their owner smiles.
The person bends down slightly and calls his name over and over, with deep affection.
The lover he cherished above all else brought him to ruin.
The gods vanished tens of millions of years ago. The divine bird Bifang ventures deep into a sea of fire. A figure suddenly appears in the void.
You've waited for me for tens of millions of years. From now on, I'll be the one chasing you.
Bonus scene
Fang Heling sighs. "I don't remember teaching you to do this."
His hands are restrained, and only his fingers can move.
Ji Songyu flips through a handbook borrowed from the library, his gaze clear and innocent. "I can teach myself."
After finally inheriting all the memories of his great-granduncle, Ji Songyu discovers that his great-granduncle treated Fang Heling terribly. He locks himself in the library and sits there for hours.
When Fang Heling opens the door, he finds Ji Songyu's eyes swollen.
Ji Songyu hugs Fang Heling. "I'll treat you better than he did. Could you please not love him more than me?"
Cute points (if those are even a thing)
Dog top, cat bottom
Little Fang has learned to think, so basically the little chicken is chasing his wife.
The little chicken knows how to apologize, and does it fast.
Thanks to my good friend for designing the cover with Moonstones. I'm especially grateful.
