Lu Qing transmigrates into a book and, for some inexplicable reason, gets bound to a tragic-romance protagonist conquest System.
She's familiar with this setup. It's a standard novel trope.
Lu Qing: "Who am I supposed to conquer? Tell me!"
System: "No, you're the one who's supposed to be conquered..."
Lu Qing's heart skips a beat.
"Who's trying to conquer me?"
The System swallows a nonexistent mouthful of saliva, scans the men approaching from every direction around the party venue, and stammers:
"All... all of them..."
Lu Qing: "Are you sure?"
Something this good can happen?
No problem, she can handle it!
Lu Qing is thrilled. Before she can even figure out how to be conquered, the main System suddenly issues an announcement:
Important notice to all agents: For reasons that cannot be disclosed, the difficulty of this conquest has been raised to level 10.
If an agent is unable to conquer their target for an extended period, they may choose to end the target's life to trigger the next conquest mission.
Lu Qing: ?????
What's going on? Does she have to watch out for her life while being conquered?
System: Host, please remain resolute, resist temptation, and follow the tragic-romance heroine's storyline as instructed!
Lu Qing: ...
So, for a long time after the party ended...
Agent No. 1:
A refined young heir from a prominent family, and her former arranged-marriage partner.
The sharp-featured man steadies Lu Qing with a firm hand as she falls in accordance with the plot. Calmly, with the faintest hint of concern, he asks, "Do you need help?"
Lu Qing looks up with a smile and replies politely, just the right amount of courtesy: "Thanks, but no."
Agent No. 2:
A gentle, cultured young professor, the person the heroine should have fallen for.
Standing in a backlit corner, the man smiles at her like a spring breeze. "Late again?"
Lu Qing looks embarrassed and bashful, but feels nothing inside. "Could you... pretend you didn't see me?"
Agent No. 3:
A newly famous actor, unruly and unpleasant to everyone, and the heroine's non-biological adoptive older brother.
Ignoring the strange looks from everyone around them, the tall, slender man grabs her in the garden and demands irritably, "Who said you could leave?"
Lu Qing glances at the hand gripping her wrist, takes a deep breath, and gazes at him with tears in her eyes. "Was I not supposed to leave?"
After Agent No. N, a man with mesmerizing eyes strolls over and stops in front of Lu Qing. He looks down at her, amusement and devil-may-care interest dancing in his eyes, and calls her name with playful curiosity: "Lu Qing?"
Just two simple syllables, drawn out at the end, tender and lingering, unmistakably flirtatious.
System (looking on with popcorn): Wow, the male lead's here! Host, hurry up and follow the plot.
Lu Qing gives him a flat look, thinks, Yeah, right, and turns to leave.
They're all good actors. Who's fooling whom?
He's not an agent, so she doesn't need to watch out for her life. Why should she bother with a weirdo who flirts with people the moment they meet?
System: ...
※Reading notes:
To Qing, they're all supporting male characters. There is no male lead (not really!)
There should still be a tiny bit of romance.
A battle among suitors, with a level-10 romantic battlefield incoming...
Playing along x barely containing a racing heart
A skilled actor vs. a truly unhinged obsessive
Yet another story written just for my own enjoyment.
An over-the-top grab bag of tropes!
The male lead will be the only one going through hell to win her back. The heroine may still get involved with the supporting male characters!
The style may be awkward. If you don't like it, please stop reading.
No promises of daily updates, but I promise to finish it!
