Because of a prophecy about the apocalypse, the angel Michael was branded a harbinger of disaster.
His followers abandoned him, his deeds were rewritten, and his statues were destroyed. The few companions who still believed in him died one by one in the apocalypse, leaving him alone to face endless malice.
And his sworn enemy took every opportunity to mock and disparage him.
The Demon King struck at every sore spot. With old and new grievances piling up, Michael drew his sword, ready to die alongside him, only for Lucifer to confess his love.
Michael: "What?"
That hateful man had to disgust him one last time before he died.
Then, he was reborn.
The apocalypse had yet to arrive, and Lucifer was still the sweet, deceptively innocent angel who was so good at putting on an act. He felt nothing but pure friendship for Michael, but Michael could no longer look at his former best friend the same way.
As he tried every way he could to distance himself from Lucifer, he investigated the truth behind the prophecy from his previous life.
The good news:
He beat the mastermind behind it all and became the archangel revered by everyone once more. The whole world praised his brilliance and valor.
Bards sang of his deeds, countless believers considered meeting him their life's greatest wish, and cities everywhere competed to build statues of him and beg him to become their guardian angel.
The bad news:
His sworn enemy has fallen for him again and again and again! And now he's announced in front of everyone that the two of them are lovers!
Michael: "That's complete nonsense!"
Lucifer: "After all this, you're going to abandon me?"
Michael: "..." What on earth is his sworn enemy playing at?
Michael vehemently denied it, and Lucifer fell from Heaven in a fury. Their love-hate drama instantly took over the headlines, keeping countless struggling tabloids afloat.
Michael earned a new title: the first angel in history to dump the Demon King.
Now the question is, how can he salvage his reputation?
Lucifer had been in a terrible mood lately. Michael had suddenly become a different person, always finding ways to avoid him and putting everything that carried memories of the two of them away in storage.
Then one day, Lucifer discovered that Michael had secretly asked a fortune-teller a question: What would make Lucifer fall in love with him?
So his best friend loved him.
Lucifer accepted it in a second. After all, he loved his best friend too.
Then the two of them somehow ended up in bed together, violating Heaven's laws.
Lucifer faced it calmly. He would always stand by his best friend's side, through thick and thin.
Later, Michael suddenly denied that they were in a relationship, acting as if he'd had his fun and was ready to dump him.
Lucifer crushed the gift in his hand.
He descended into Hell and gazed up at the angel above the clouds, love and hatred surging through him.
...Whether it was a misunderstanding or a lie, whatever the reason had been at first, he could never let Michael go now.
The Demon King imprisoned the radiant angel in a room, gripping his chin and forcing him to tilt his head up and look him in the eyes.
"If you've forgotten, then I'll help you remember."
"As many times as it takes."
