Lin Wang transmigrates into another world, where the System tells him to win over the protagonist, Chi Yan.
Chi Yan has been a heaven-blessed prodigy since childhood. He once split mountains and rivers with a single sword, earning the admiration and love of countless people.
Unfortunately, he cultivates the heartless path. His Heartless Sword keeps all his admirers at bay, leaving many brokenhearted.
The System orders Lin Wang to use every means at his disposal to get close to Chi Yan and win him over, then get stabbed to death by him.
Lin Wang: Oh, I get it! After he kills me, he'll realize he's been deeply in love with me all along, but didn't know it. Then he'll go crazy trying to bring me back to life and make it up to me.
System: No. In the end, he'll achieve enlightenment, complete the heartless path, and ascend successfully.
Lin Wang: Thanks for nothing. Get lost.
Under the System's coercion (not really), Lin Wang resolves to win over Chi Yan.
Step one: Get close to Chi Yan.
Lin Wang looks at the skinny little kid in front of him, covered in bruises from being bullied. He thinks, The protagonist must have suffered plenty of hardship as a child. This kid definitely looks like the protagonist.
So Lin Wang rushes over to show him some warmth, helps him get revenge, and tells him that where there's a will, there's a way. As long as you live long enough, all your enemies will die one by one.
Step two: Raise him.
From then on, Lin Wang eats and sleeps there, shamelessly letting the boy raise him.
All he has to do is... whimper, whimper, whimper.
Step three: Before he can even put it into action, the System comes to check on his progress.
It stares in confusion and shock. "What the heck, Host! You've got the wrong target!"
Lin Wang turns around, unconvinced. He beckons to the young man behind him and calls, "Chi Yan."
The young man comes over eagerly and puts an arm around him. "Big Brother."
The System is speechless. Suddenly, it remembers: Damn, it forgot that Chi Yan's cannon-fodder cousin is named Chi Yan too.
The System tentatively tries to negotiate. "The target was wrong. Host, why don't you switch in time..."
Before it can finish, the young man who had seemed so delicate in Lin Wang's arms gives a contemptuous smile and shifts his gaze.
In an instant, the System finds itself completely paralyzed. "He's my target."
The timid System nods frantically.

The only thing Chi Yan and his cousin, Chi Yan, have in common is the way their names sound. He is a rat scraping out an existence in his cousin's shadow.
The more people admire Chi Yan, the more they look down on him. They mock and bully him...
He always thought he could endure it. Then one day, a person like an immortal appeared before him. An immortal was the moon in the distant sky, but one day, its light shone into a ditch, illuminating the rat who had thought he would always live in darkness.
After seeing the moonlight, he could never look away again.
The moon came running to him. He cautiously reached out and held on. Once he had it, he could never let go.
