A Transmigrator's Life in the Imperial Exams

Xu Nian was reborn as a newborn baby, tiny as could be, with too little brainpower to do anything but sleep all day.

His father returned from the market, breath steaming in the cold, carrying warm steamed buns made from white flour to his wife. Bai Sisi scolded him for wasting money, then tenderly shared the buns with their four-year-old eldest son.

The family lived in harmony. Xu Nian woke from his nap to find the charcoal fire glowing red in the room. His four-year-old big brother, Xu Zhou, was leaning over the bedside to look at him. "When will my little brother grow up and play with me?"

"Soon. Just wait a little longer," Bai Sisi said with a smile from the bed.

Time really did fly. In the blink of an eye, Xu Nian had grown up. Then, in another blink, he had passed the imperial child examination and earned the title of scholar...

[Notes and content warnings]: 1. The pacing is slow and steady, like a gentle stream (it may really be slow).

2. The blurb is heartwarming, but there are some awful characters. They appear early on, and they'll make you sick, but they will also be dealt with quickly (probably, depending on how things go).

3. Saving a spot to add more later.

Theme: Moving forward without giving in to hardship.
