Synopsis:
I stayed up all night reading a dark, tragic novel.
Alien creatures invaded Earth, slaughtering people and capturing them. Humanity was weak, with no special abilities and no mutations, and had fallen to the very bottom of the food chain.
The protagonist, an uke, joined an endless deathmatch arena, fighting against fate with his companions in desperate scenarios.
But one by one, his companions died before his eyes. As the sole survivor, he gave up his reward and followed them in death.
I finished the last chapter in floods of tears and gave the novel, where every character got a tragic ending, a one-star review.
When I opened my eyes again, I had become the behind-the-scenes big boss whose pathological possessiveness toward the protagonist uke drove everyone to their tragic ends:
an ugly white monster with tentacles.
Well, this is exciting.
-
When the protagonist group's little sister was pushed forward as bait, I looked down at the girl, whose eyes were empty, spat a mouthful of sticky saliva, and walked away.
Thanks to my saliva, the monsters in that round kept overlooking her, and she luckily managed to survive to the next one.
When the beautiful young man with a crazed smile jumped from a building with his twin brother, who was about to turn into a corpse, I reached out from the middle floors and caught them. Then I quickly tossed down two unrecognizable corpses to serve as their decoys.
I curled a foot around the reversal serum nearby and gestured for the young man to inject his brother. Then I took the mad-dog twins out of the scenario and raised them at home.
When the protagonist seme, blood running from his forehead, sat quietly in a corner waiting for the monster to come, I took human form and ran out to draw the monster away from the door.
The protagonist seme, who had always gone it alone, joined the protagonist uke's team for the first time, waiting for the "aberration" they spoke of to appear again.
-
Fewer than ten contestants remained. Everyone schemed against one another with all their might, desperate to be the last one standing.
Among them, the protagonist uke was completely out of place, determined only to die.
I humored the monsters fawning over me. After all, I was technically the guardian of the protagonist uke, who was a candidate for the championship.
Then I turned around and did everything I could to save people.
The protagonist uke survived to the end. Beneath the flashing lights, he was beautiful and dazzling, praised by countless monsters.
Though his character was supposed to be a rebellious beauty who fought fate like a moth flying into a flame, he was more than willing to put himself on full display at the awards ceremony.
I didn't become certain of my suspicions until I was gently touched by a tentacle in the middle of the night.
The protagonist uke seemed even more deranged than he was at the end of the original story.
//
1. The main story is written in third person.
2. Not all of the story takes place in endless-flow scenarios. The main plot is interwoven with them.
3. Since humanity never gains the ability to fight back, I guess it could be called either a happy or a tragic ending?
